Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

So.... losing to them Tuesday wouldn't be a good look?

I'd be careful, there was a lot of kicking Kentucky while they down going on around here...
Come on Darth. You know that Tennessee without Rennia is a much inferior team.

And yes...losing to MSST would be a bad loss. Their climbing back into this game, but it's because they are out-athleting Ark, not outplaying them. They still look woefully miscoached.

Can we all just now agree that Darth is indeed a troll and actually a UConn fan?
Even the self identified UConn fans on here are not as obnoxious about Conn as he is.

Yes, but he's more transcendent.

(Or transcendental. Or translucent. Something.)

MSST loses four in a row. Arkansas wins 86-80.

Gotta hand it to Nikki McCray Penson. It took Holly about 5 years to destroy what Pat built at Tennessee; Nikki undid 7 years of Vic's work in about 90 days. I quite liked Vic and what he did at MSST. It's a shame that their administration cheaped out and wasn't willing to pay for a real coach.

I hope Kellie has her MSST grocery list, because any player that is smart will take the "Do-over Year" and get out of Starksville in a hurry. Any of their top 9 would look really good in orange.

In other news MSST appears to no longer have a defense. Pitiful.

I’m sure they’ll find it for us of course.
They are not an easy team to beat losses in the last four have come to Bama, Sc, Texas A&M and Arkansas so maybe they do look a little shaky defensively but they can definitely still score. Hit 12 threes against Arkansas and no one usually holds Arkansas under 80 or beats them at home. I'm not getting my hopes up that we will win at Miss St they spread the floor well on offense and the way we need to win is out score them don't think were holding them under 70 points.

It's hard not to agree with many here that put their poor play on the coaches. Now, I don't know that they are really bad, but Vic was so good it makes them look really bad in comparison. Either way, they certainly have the talent to play with Tennessee and win at home.

I'm looking forward to a great battle with the bigs in this game. Jackson vs Davis, Carter vs Key and Cooks vs KK. The size advantage for Tennessee is in the guard play with Burrell and Horston.

Should be another tough SEC game to watch.

All I can do is compare it to who they have lost to versus last season Vic was 2 and 3 with the same teams and they are 1 and 5 this time.

But are both teams the same too? Not sure that is a good way to compare. Vic is for sure the better coach. There can be no debate about that.

Just saying definitely better coach but he had problems with the same teams last season. Miss St is in the same talent class with about five or six other SEC teams not better or worse. Losing to SC, A&M, Arkansas, and Kentucky can happen to anyone. Bama at their place maybe should've been a win this year. Going forward let's see what they do schedule somewhat easier although Ole Miss whom they beat the first time has found their groove. Tennessee certainly is a winnable game for them especially since Tennessee's third game in five days. The rest of their schedule should be wins. When they start falling to teams they should beat is when you could really understand a huge drop off. Up to this point their schedule has been quite brutal just like Tennessee is going to face in the next few games.

I know homecourt advantage doesn't mean what it used to this season, but Arkansas appears to be a completely different team home vs. away. They have a losing record on the road, but they've proven they can beat literally anyone in their house. A 1 point loss to A&M is their only blemish at home...

So says the UConn fan. Thanks for helping make my point.
I do have a question. Are there as many LV fans on the Boneyard and does the Boneyard provide a non-UConn thread for women’s basketball?

There aren’t. I’ve been there. If you’re a fan of any other program they immediately ostracize you and you get viciously attacked by a bunch of 13yo girls if you post anything objective.

That’s why I give the connies here a hard time. We certainly aren’t welcomed with open arms on their board.

I lurk but I don't post. There's a separate sub-forum under women's basketball to talk about other teams. From what I've seen, there are a handful of Tennessee regulars and some other drive-bys. About the same as the 3-4 UConn fans that post here regularly. Interesting enough, I recognize the LV regulars from The Summitt, but they don't post here.

That's not true. They have a General Women's Basketball forum, and they are cordial to the Tennessee fans that post there for the most part...as long as they aren't dissing the UConn program or players.

That is not true. If you can read you know that is not true.

Thanks I just wondered.

Definitely! We love WBBB. You should check it out. There is a whole sub forum for non-Uconn news. there is a big SEC following and every meaningful sec game has its own thread: 1613152700345.png

Here's the discussion of our last game. The only seriously negative remark about us came from a Duke fan.

#16 Tennessee @ #20 Kentucky - 2/11/21
Thanks for posting. I read what was posted about our game.
I see a greater % of negative posts (much greater ?) about our team on this forum than I do on uconn's.
Is the animosity between fan bases really that one sided ?
