Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

There is no dispute that Zia Cooke played really handsy with LLS all game long. But there were a ton of calls that went UConn's way as well that they didn't have problems with. The moving screen you referenced above, some maulings by Dorka in the 1st quarter, and let's not even get into all the "and-1's" given to Edwards because there was a defender in her zip code. There were a ton of bad calls going both ways, and the refs were very inconsistent in what they were and weren't calling fouls on. I'd imagine it would be very difficult to get into a rhythm as a player.
Zia got manhandled herself....even popped in the face which drew blood. Did GA mention that one in his presser?

What’s the purpose of the question? Are you on an opposing school’s forum to moderator their fans dialogue?
What's the purpose of your question? Seems you're the one who wants to moderate. I asked a question, and some responded with their thoughts.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the emojis and "stand your business" creeps out. Maybe your third re-incarnation will last longer than your previous two...

I saw the replay of that one and think Zia initiated the contact with a bit of grabby work. I'm not saying she played dirty, but she defended to whatever the refs allowed her to get away with.

The most egregious call -- errr, non-call -- in the SC-CT game was when on the late-game inbounds play the SC player literally handed the ball over to her teammate when time was running out and she got desperate to get rid of it. All those players were bunched up so close to the sideline that there was literally not enough space between them to even make a pass, yet somehow the officials missed that. I hope that officiating crew was seriously reprimanded, at the very least, for that mess. That was insane.

Adding that I also agree that Auriemma's bottle toss should have gotten him ejected. But then, who knows? Maybe that would have given his players more resolve to win.

There was so much going on there. When I watched it, it looked like Raven signaled a time out to the refs. Then Zia ran in front of her and she handed the ball over to her. The refs seemed to miss both a.) the timeout request and b.) the illegal handoff. Those refs really earned their checks that day!

Oh lawsy careful what you wish for. Good player, but quite the handful.

Also resulted in the annoucers blaming Tennessee. Poor Geno got upset "down here" you see, and is not quite over it yet.

And this dear, is why people don't like you. You are disrespectful of other players. I wonder if this crap will hurt her NPOY bid.

I've never seen Boston do this. Much as I sports dislike Dawn, I don't think she'd have it. Especially when the Ts cost points!

LSU is definitely a team headed for a fall. Can't happen soon enough.

I made a post in this thread after the McDonald's AA game last year about her......yes, very talented and yes quite a handful to "manage"

Except there is no view from any camera that showed it was handed off as the announcers were implying in their chatter talk. In fact, nobody but the players and ref had a clear view. It could have been handed off, and it could have been a very short pass, say a few inches. To say emphatically this was the most egregious call of the game implies you have actual video evidence of the infraction...you do not. Nobody except that ref and those players had a view, period. It was indeterminate from the fans viewpoint. The pass could have been half an inch and been perfectly legal....there is not a single camera view that shows both players hands on the ball simultaneously beyond any reasonable doubt.

Was it my imagination, or was Raven trying to signal a timeout which was not given to her?

I actually enjoy The Angel Reese Show. Yes, she's a sh!t stirring drama queen, but it's like I can't wait to see what she does next!

I will say that I've noticed that her teammates adore her and it seems like she gets on with her rivals as well (I've noticed how quick she is to help them off the ground). Narcissistic for sure, but I don't think she's a bad person.

Me too honestly! I love it! It makes it so much more entertaining! Like ladies are y’all going to let her taunt y’all like that! FIGHT BACK! 😂

Every time I see stuff like this. I always think about the “what ifs” 😩🥹🥲 we were so robbed! Congrats to Dawn though, what she has done at South Carolina is insane!

Its at the 46 second mark of the 4th quarter. After getting rid of the ball to Cooke due to a very short pass or a handoff (ref called it a legal pass on the court) Raven immediately tries to call a TO, which was ignored Because Uconn fouled immediately to stop the clock. Raven was flustered a bit in that whole sequence and I think she heard her coach calling for a TO prior to getting rid of the ball.

BS. There was a perfect camera view showing the handoff. Anybody with half a brain and one eye could see it and no, I would never pull for Geno so that's not why I'm saying it was a handoff. It is what it is. Everybody has to take their lumps with the officials. Just be grateful you were on the receiving end of that non-call.

I posted the game video above, go to the 46 second mark of the 4th quarter. There is NO video evidence either way...You Don't Know...the ref was right there and was the only one to see the exchange.....you won't find any camera shot showing hands from both players on the ball because there isn't one. Btw, I don't recommend operating heavy equipment or TV remotes on half a brain and one eye.

Just accept the loss nobody was beaten up more than anyone else. That is a statement that he should've never spoken.
Just the state of the game I guess. In a past post someone said that UConn played dirty, and my response was that they don't play dirty, they play physical. This game showed why we have to play this way, the only way anybody has a chance to beat teams like South Carolina.

Not me. I don't want no fighting. There's enough wrestling amongst the posts.

I guess self celebrating would be ok, it's the disrespecting opponents I don't like.

But that's ok, I believe ole Ang and Kim are headed for a really big come down at tourney time .

So Uconn does not play physical when they are beating up the BE teams?

A lot of ifs in basketball if Cooke doesn't shoot 2 of 15 an something like 6 of 15 where does that put the game. Cardoso did save the day today, but other players played well below what they usually play. Every game is different and one or two players always make the difference.
South Carolina is not a good 3-pt shooting team, thus they had a lot of open looks on the perimeter. UConn spent their energy on covering the post and giving them that shot many times, as you could see when UConn was able to surround Boston underneath. Still, she is too good, and sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

Dawn's point doesn't mean that other players didn't play well. It's important to praise a player that has not really stepped up big time.
