WBB has a history of allowing WW3 to occur in the paint while calling ticky tack fouls on the perimeter. In this case, they weren't calling fouls on Cooke, but they also sure weren't calling all the fouls on Boston/Amihere/Cardoso by the UConn post players. They all probably have their share of bruises. Geno playing the victim here when UConn has ALWAYS played physical as well is not a good look.I kinda agree with Geno. I'd much rather watch a basketball game than a wrestling match. I do think it's sad, but inevitable, that the women's game goes down the path of the men's. Whoever's biggest and strongest, not necessarily most skilled. Dawn's right, that path has been most pronounced in the SEC. She has every right to stand up for that style of play, which she obviously embraces. It's just opinion on approach to the game.
I'm just not sure how that gets translated as personal insult or certainly some racist or sexist thing that ole Dawn is just not going to stand for.
The racist connotations I'm guessing are from racist fans who have something to say about how the SC girls "look" compared to "less aggressive" players, and I don't think she's wrong. It reminds me of that shock jockey who had some things to say about the Rutgers' women's team during their last heyday.
