Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Am I the only one who gets the vibe that Geno is gonna retire soon? He looks incredibly burned out these days

My hunch is he gives it one last go next year with Paige and Fudd back (healthy hopefully for them) and if he can't get it done then he calls it a career.

I do have to say, it takes a lot of work to coach at this level and you see many college greats lose their magic touch at some point in their career towards the end especially when they get older.

He knows the game & recruits has changed a lot.

Geno living in a new world now and I am not sure how he is absorbing it…I am sure he has visions of a revenge tour next year if he gets them all back, might happen, Paige alone amirite? Paige plus Azzi and Edwards and crew will be ranked #1 preseason likely, let’s see how it goes, but I want to say Uconn WBB is excellent, and has been excellent for over 14 straight years, so I never ever discredit or overlook them.

Only coach I know who can basically publicly accuse refs of cheating in Knoxville perennially to assist Tennessee and cost his program favoritism. Looks like he owns an immunity card….SMH….
And blaming the refs against SC despite their team hacking SC's posts all game

I just laugh at the irony of it all. Much like he called Kim a sore loser for that controversial ending/no call in the Elite 8 in Baylor/UCONN a few years ago where Carrington got hacked going up for the game wining bucket. But now that the shoe is on the other foot, you are starting to see his true colors more now.

Does anyone have a link to his post game presser, it must have been humiliating for him, not that I wish that on him, but my how the tables have turned in WBB.

Btw, SC broke them.

Until our team can beat theirs, I'm not gonna poke fun at them for losing ANY game. It's bad karma!

Also, I would sure love to have their record this year instead of ours. Lady Vols are still working hard, though, and it ain't over 'til it's over! 🧡

They will make some kind of run in the tourney, that’s what they do….but how far they go seems up in the air now. They need some rest and some injured players to get back because the starting 5 is exhausted.

In other news the City of Columbia announced plans to erect a statue of Dawn on the corner of Main and Gervais. That's across the street from the SC State House.

If anything, last night just makes our non-competitive loss at home to them look even worse. There’s nothing special about this UConn team in its current state.

What a fun game to watch, a real throwback. The movement, the passing, the pace. I don;t want to like Clark but she's as good a passer as she is a scorer. Iowa averages 20 assists a game!

There is post play, and its tough but not a wrestling match. And doesn't dominate the game. There's offense outside of who has the longest arms and can stick a put back. There's actual shooting!

Not alot of noteworthy D. Tied at halftime 39-39.

Miss ST putting beatdown on FLA. Guess we inspired them.

Wow Indiana. That is a legit team. I pooh poohed their coach as a possible KJH replacement the other day, but they sure look well-coached. Not that she'd want us though.

With a 10 point lead whittled down to four and under two minutes to play a Vandy girl just made an incredible play. After a missed layup one Vandy player, Washington, surrounded by Arkansas players just kept tapping the ball up into the air until she was able to grab it and lay it up for a six point lead. Vandy is 26 seconds away from their second SEC win.

Only cared for Pepperdine at BYU because I bet a 25 dollar parlay for BYU to win and for Maryland to win by 18. Well Maryland did their part. BYU went up 57 48 with less than 3 to go and ESPN showed 98% to win. Well, Pepperdine who is in dead last, end the 4th Q on a 9 0 run to take it to OT. End up winning by 1. UT men were on my parlay last night to just win. Back to back nights unbelieve comebacks and last second shots.

For those that don’t follow them closely, this is who they will have back next year.

Nika Muhl (nation leader in assists)
Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd
NPOY candidate Aaliyah Edwards
Aubrey Griffith
Caroline Ducharme
Injured five-star recruit Ice Brady
Ayanna Patterson
6’5” Amari DeBerry
Numbers 5, 11 & 18 recruits
6’4” Egyptian wing (mvp u17 bwob tourney)
Inez Bettencourt

They also have one good recruit for each of the next two seasons after that. Can’t imagine Geno is going anywhere for a few years anyways.
