Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Must win for St.Johns tonight against Villanova already lost to Nova once. If they don`t win then they will need to win the big east tournament i think.
The Nova star has burnt most of its hydrogen, it’s in the final stages of a star death now.

They are 22-4, ranked #14 in the country, and have the country's leading scorer in Maddy Siegrist at more than 29 points a game. Last game she scored 50 against Seton Hall. We play them at their place Saturday and we are not looking forward to it.

I was being sarcastic, sorry, I don’t get my point across well sometimes. It was meant to be a little humorous . I really like their team, esp Maddy.

I doubt it. Folks I know that are MIZzOU fans seem to think she has a job there as long as she wants it. They tell me everyone in COMO loves her and elevating wbb isn’t a big priority for MIZzOU.
Kinda weird, they have some history of being good in WBB. I’m not saying she is not up to the job btw, she may well be.
Mizzou is the hardest school in the SEC to fully understand in all sports, including FB, they can be so good and then…so bad. But even when they are really good in sports it seems they do so in spite of sub par recruiting, but then again, look at TCU. I digress.

Anybody gonna watch any of the games tonight?

I’m going to watch OU/Tech and Baylor/KState. I’ve really enjoyed the Big 12 this season. There have been some really fun games. A few good teams in that league that I think could surprise people in March.

They have all kinda beat up on each other. OSU is a team to watch. Dynamite young coach and she has her team playing tough this season with almost no talent at all. Very scrappy and well coached imo. If you have time you should go watch their game against Tech a week or two ago. It was really a fun one.

Tech is also scrappy and has some talent with Scott and Shavers. They are rough around the edges but fun to watch. Remind me of some of the really good teams from my youth in rural Colorado. Defensive minded and tough.

I’m usually a big pac 12 fan but have found myself watching more Big 12 and Big 10 games this season. Pac has not been as interesting as it usually is. Stanford should win the conference tournament pretty easily. Utah is the second best team in that league but I don’t actually think they are that great. Pili wouldn’t be able to score on any of the SEC teams.

Sure. I don't think they are mutually exclusive. But come on. Candace taunted the hell out of whoever's shot she blocked. She would make faces and she's been T'd up before. But no, I don't think her doing that makes her "all about me!"

Speaking of Candace and taunting, one of my favorites was one where she was on the receiving end. It was her first game against UConn. She was getting positioned for a rebound and called out, "I got it!". Barb Turner (all 5'9/5'10 of her) yells out, "you ain't got SH1T!" and outworks Parker for the rebound. I doubt Parker took it personally, and I'd wager to say the same is true for players on the receiving end of Reese's taunts. Most of them all know each other.

Wouldn't call Catchings stoic. You could see her passion/energy on her facial expressions. Holdsclaw was a different story. As for Clement...I hate to say it, but she wasn't good enough where she should be doing too much celebrating. If you're gonna be *that woman*, you have to be able to back it up regularly.
The wars within the wars were great. The transcendent players like Parker and Taurasi were compelling…but so much cool stuff for fans to scream about when the whole court was full of great battles. Too, too many to recount. We knew Boo.

You are probably spot on there, Pili is a nice player, doing so well this year in the PAC, but woah Nellie, that dog won’t hunt so well in the SEC.

If Siegrist is not an AA I don’t know what one looks like. Leads nation in scoring, averages over 9 rebounds, shoots at a ridiculously high %. She needs to be considered with Clark for POY imo. Holmes from IU also…

Creighton prob isn’t winning AT Uconn tonight, already 9 fouls called on them vs 1 for Uconn….

edit/update: fouls…14 for Creighton, 1 total foul so far against Uconn, we are in the 3rd…it’s almost criminal, and I never complain about refs..wow

Damn, Geno gonna ride those 5 starters hard and put them up wet….only has played 6 tonight, Ducharme off the bench is 0-5. Fouls now 15-4, Creighton 48-39 after 3.

Creighton out shot them and out rebounded them, lost from the FT disparity….you have to almost pummel Uconn in Stoors to beat them. 21 fouls on Creighton, 9 for Uconn.
