Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Iowa's Clark is an outstanding shooter. What bugs me about her is her very active left arm that helps makes space in her movements to the rim. Someone pointed this out earlier and the refs never call it. At around the 1:00 mark of the 4Q, Clark I think used her shoulder to get space from her defender. It was very egregious, however it was late in the game and the refs didn't whistle her. Clark is an AA, however she bugs me.
She does it every game.... all game. And falls out of bounds on layups. Officials weren't biting yesterday. And she argued with them.

There is research that shows high fives (and other similar type teammate contact) improves performance on the court. I remember hearing Candace Parker talk about this. In the situation with the Utah player, I’m personally glad to see they would be encouraging her and telling her, it’s ok, move on to the next one.

I agree. I was hoping one of her teammates would step up, grab her by the shoulders and say, hey, you got this! Such a tough moment.

Faith Masonius is a tough, tough player. She does all the little things, excellent defense, plays hard every possession and ends each possession with a fantastic box out.

Not much chatter about South Carolina and UCLA. I think that is going to be a really fun game to watch. Truly believe South Carolina will win it all, just too deep and too good. Breaks my Lady Vol lovin heart but they’re one of the best teams in recent memory. Truly elite this season.

UCLA gave them a dogfight in their first matchup though. They’re definitely gonna want another shot. Their posts are going to have to hit some threes to draw the SC bigs out if they want a chance.

The guard play in this one will be elite. Kiki Rice is super fun to watch.

Ivey coaching her ass off vs Maryland right now!

Yes! I was talking all sorts of mess on them about being one dimensional after Miles went down. After a week or two of practice their balance looks excellent and this big lineup is much better on the boards.

Really excellent coaching and adjustment throughout the season. She should be in contention for National COY based on the NCAA tournament so far.

She the best player in the game--and fun to watch. If she is not looking to score, she's looking to get it to their center. In the Iowa games I've seen, she must have had 10 assists to their big in the paint. They are an effective one-two combo.

I dislike when players do what Bessoir just did. She should not be allowed to re-enter the game. There was nothing on that play and then she laid on the floor for no reason until Staley had to call a timeout. Immediately said she was fine and then got up.

Super annoying and should be penalized with Free Throws for delay of game. Too much of that anymore. It’s getting to be like soccer.

So Bree Hall she is gonna be a very good player is 6-1 and long

South Carolina bigs are excellent at using their length to make players look open who are not. Used to do that to opponents all the time when I played. You have to know your reach and your jump if you’re a shot blocker.

It’s fun to bait people into passing to someone you know is prime distance for the block.
