I agree. I think Edwards is 2nd team or HM all American. Don’t think Bueckers should even be on the list.
UConn has lost to every truly good team they played this year with the exception of maybe Louisville who is playing better as of late.
For me you have to at least play with the best competition in the country to make AA and it hasn’t been close.
Same goes for our players. Jackson is talented enough to be an AA but I don’t feel our team has played well enough for her to earn more than HM honors if that.
My prediction will be something like this:
1st: Clark, Watkins, Reese, Brink, Cardoso
Comments: I think it should be Hidalgo over Watkins, but Juju has the name recognition and higher profile team, so she gets the nod. Cardoso gets 1st team as the best player on the best team. Reese gets repeat honors (I think she has the stats to back it up). Brink gets promoted over Mackenzie Holmes due to the H2H matchup.
2nd: Hidalgo, Sheldon, Pili, Holmes, Kitley
Comments: Hidalgo is borderline first team and no worse than 2nd team. Pili, Holmes and Kitley were all either 1st or 2nd team last year, and none of them have done badly enough to drop below at least 2nd team. Sheldon is a bit of a long horse, but she has the stats and OSU is #2 in the country. She's probably the least likely to get 2nd team.
3rd: Paopao, Sherod/Rivers, Morrow, Edwards, Betts
Comments: Morrow and Edwards hold their 3rd team honors from last season. Betts kept UCLA at #2 for a long portion of the season and has been a difference maker for the Bruins. Paopao gets the bump as the best guard (statistically) on the #1 team and to make up for LSU having two spots (really hard not to give it to Morrow given how well she's fit into LSU while improving her shooting from last season); I can see her getting left off though. Last spot was tough to pick. I'll give it to either Sherod from Colorado or Rivers from NCState for being the respective engines for their overachieving teams.
Spoilsports: Bueckers (you just watch...I bet she makes first team somehow), Madison Booker, Cotie McMahon, Ayoka Lee (though I think she's missed too much time), Kiki Irifian, Charisma Osbourne, Raegan Beers, Georgia Amore, Dyaisha Fair
Agree if Tennessee was better, Jackson should be 3rd team, but hard for me to say who I would bump her for. Guess it depends on how much "better", but with their current performance, she has no shot at AA honors unless she goes on a tear for the next 5 games and they beat SC and LSU.
