Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

This dude said only 11,000 lol.. put 11,000 in SC little stadium and it would be a sellout.

TBA is the home that won 8 nat’l titles and is huge! And it was loud. It was FULL. And Rocking Top was Rocky!

The LVs are top 5-10 in crowd sizes in WBB!

We ain’t done yet.. LSU and Texas A&M it’s scary hours on Rocky Top!

SC averages over 12,000 and almost 17,000 for SEC games this year. there will be 18,000 fans at the game against Georgia this Sunday.

The SEC fan club and SC fans on Twitter were quiet for 3 plus quarters last night lol.

Don’t come here with that chest pounding crap.. your team is vulnerable. They didn’t win it last night the LVs didn’t finish and poor officiating killed the momentum.

I don’t care what SC averages in attendance saying 11000 is not what you expected is bogus.

I mean, y’all are front runners of course you come to games NOW when you are winning.

11000 or 7000 I don’t care that crowd at TBA was rocking on Rocky Top!

That’s what 8 nat’l championships bring with the greatest legendary figure of all-time in WBB Coach Summitt and the best tradition of all time!

Y’all better be thankful that SC got a bonus player on the court for 40 minutes with that one ref last night. I got the ref cheating scandal from the NBA/Boston vibes.. that’s not a professional that’s a fan. I wonder is that the same one who had a part in the 42 free throws that SC took against Ole Miss?

Lets gooooooo!!

To offer my support to you and you only, I’m wearing a green ribbon today.

This won’t hold, but interesting to see what the committee thinks so far. Almost looks designed to get Iowa deep.

Not sure about that. K State is one of the teams that has beaten them this year and Colorado is a very Dynamic, well coached team that plays really good defense and can score at any time from multiple positions.

I'm trying to remember the last time we had 15K or more. 11-12K is a really good crowd for us. Remember we play in a 24K seat arena. I've only ever seen it sold out for the LVs back in the day for UConn games. The men sell it out almost every game.

I was pleasantly surprised not only at the 11K on a Thursday night, which is usually an 8Kish crowd, but at the energy. Someone did a great job getting the student rowdies in, apparently gave them all LV jerseys. It really was fun. I'm grateful for our faithful 8-10K everytime I see pitiful handfuls like at Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida.

A funny thing happened to me last night after watching Dawn's full presser - I admit she is really a class act. I haven't always liked her due to what I saw as shameless self promoting and almost comic self righteousness. But she really is gracious and genuine. The anti Kim Mulkey.

That said, I wasn't pleased she called that t.o. w 1:23 left and the game in hand. Still don't understand that. Also, I still think it's very possible they trip up somewhere along the way in the tourney bc while Dawn is a great recruiter, leader, and organizer, I don't think she's all that as an ingame x and o coach.

Agreed I think the big time talent she recruits makes up for her in game coaching.

Fans always only remember the calls against their team.

As a South Carolina Fan I was very irritated at the refs calls as well.

At the end of the day those refs called SC for 17 fouls and Tennessee for 15.

Blaming refs for loses is a loser's mentality. Tennessee played very well especially in the first half.

That was by far the worst half the Gamecocks have played all year.

Good luck against Vanderbilt, looking forward to our rematch in front of 18,000+ at the CLA.

Like I said, that sounds good when your fanbase is made up of people who are front runners. Enjoy it while it last. Tennessee will always be the standard!

We’ll be coming down there and competing just like we did last night.

It was only a 9 point game at that point. I'm sure her players were tired. Probably called it to get them to focus, catch a breath and remind them to milk the clock and not be careless with the ball. Remember Reggie Miller scoring 8 points in 9 seconds?

I'm going to really get myself in trouble now by saying IMO the same was true of Pat, esp on offense and esp the last decade of her career when the talent started to be more evenly distributed.
I don't think that's controversial at all. That's why Tennessee couldn't get over the hurdle once Catchings left. Even in her prime, Tennessee was at their peak because she usually had the best player on the court (Holdsclaw, Catchings, Parker, etc...). Take that away, and you have that period of time where she had a lot of really good players (think during Lawson, Zollman, Moore, Jackson, Butts, Robinson), but couldn't beat UConn with Taurasi and her backup singers. Taurasi took over the games even if Tennessee had more overall talent, because she was the best player on the court.

Tennessee had some really ugly grind it out types of games because they had no offensive flow and sometimes their star was having a bad day. It's not like it was easy to just run an offense with different pieces the way that UConn was able to at the time.

Tennessee is the standard, Rocky Top is rocking with the 11,000 fans in a 21,000 seat arena. Look Bozo, a good portion of the LV fans probably don't remember the 8th NC, and for you to say that was a great crowd for such an epic game is ridiculous. This team deserves more. For all your crowing about elite players, and that there will be a huge happening on Thursday, why didn't at least 15,000 show up to support the team. Tennessee has great fans, but the team should be supported more than it is. All your stupid remarks are infuriating because most of them aren't true. People are trying to have an adult conversation about the team and then you insert some nonsense that has nothing to do with reality. You just like to insult most of the LV fans, and I just don't understand why. Can you explain why you are trying to get to people, people that share your passion, but are turned off because of your stupidity? You lose more credibility when you criticize Kellie or the team because you have already convinced us over time that this team can win the NC and SEC title this year. Nobody believes anything you say because it is based on nothing. You are just a Bozo.

I've been a fan of all South Carolina sports long before Dawn Staley was even hired.

She was hired during my junior year at Carolina and i started going to the women's games as well as men's out of curiosity.

I absolutely respect the History of Lady Vols basketball and as well have really enjoyed the ride watching my Gamecocks become the modern standard in the NCAAW.

One of the things I've always admired the most about Pat, and think we can all learn from, is that she openly admitted her shortcomings as an offensive strategist and publically sought help figuring out. Ain't too proud to beg. Went to Phil Jackson, went to Harry Perretta. But she never really did find the answers, and that's when Geno passed her.

Also interesting, but not surprising, that many from her coaching tree have the same problem, most notably KJH and Kara Lawson.

Yup, I remember when she was trying to implement Perreta's motion offense, and I was watching confused thinking, "it looks exactly the same..." That experiment lasted until she got Parker and went back to her trusty 1-on-1 iso play, shooter on the wing, and five players crashing the boards.

I would have thought Lawson would be able to implement a better offense since she's had more exposure with her time in the WNBA (and the Monarchs had a really pretty offense) and NBA staff. I haven't watched Duke play this year, but it seems like they are a defensive minded offensively challenged team aka Peak Tennessee, minus the Parkers of the World.

Well I tell you what.. the media, the fans, and public said SC is a heavyweight. Tennessee showed you what a heavyweight opponent is built like!

I was really impressed with Raven, Hall, and Kamilla for SC. Yes they have talent but are also good leaders. Rickea J was outstanding. Sara Puckett gets talked about a lot in a negative way but she deserves a lot of credit for striving to reach her potential.

That game went 12 rounds like a boxing match.

We ain’t backing down. Tennessee is a sleeping giant. Just enjoy what SC has found right now because Tennessee is coming.

I’m not afraid of this team playing SC again. At this point making the tourney or not is not the priority, learning how to overcome the odds and how to win against the best is the test for this team.

When game is at South Carolina look for a UCONN score.

Senior day and a packed arena spells doom for Tennessee.

Now wait for the NegaVol WC to reply with comments his 2025, 2026 and beyond speech.
Agree, next time is likely to be the one we've dreaded. However, SC will have the SEC reg season championship sewed up and the SEC tourney coming up so maybe she goes a little easy. Fingers crossed.

But truthfully, right now I don't care about that game. Have to beat Vandy and TAM and if LSU, that's the cherry on top. At that point our tourney fate will likely have been decided.

Just hope Lady Vols didn't put so much steam into last night and coming up short doesn't deflate them.

First 5 minutes of Vandy game should let everyone know if they flushed this loss.

I'm less worried about fatigue and letdown since Vandy will be coming off the worst trip in the SEC - College Station. They will have a short turn around as well and had a tough, hard fought game last night. We were already home and Nashville is a short bus ride away Saturday evening. Also likely to be a home game crowd.

Also, I remember us matching up w them really well. Jewel had a field day and RJ had a double double in 3 qtrs before getting sick.
