Shekinna played for a while...probably about 9-10 years and was a starter for most of that time. She played for Seattle, Connecticut and Atlanta to my knowledge. She became a very good 3 point shooter and that was her main role. She started pretty much her whole career until the last 1-2 years. She was a bit unrecognizable towards the end...she was not in good shape.

A little surprised Spear didn't make second team. I wonder if her performances in our 3 games against South Carolina and LSU hurt her in the end, because otherwise she's statistically one of the more efficient scorers in the SEC (2nd in points per play, 7th in points per shot attempt, 12th in FT%, 13th in 3pt. %), top 5 in AST/TO ratio, 6th in the league in win shares, 14th in PER (and 18 players made the first/second teams), etc.

I don't recall ever seeing multiple bench players on the first/second teams (Correa, Watkins).

I don't think Spear was ever a solid pick. Mikaylah Williams Aaliyah Matharu, Endyia Rogers, Aicha Coulibaly, Milaysia Fulwiley and Jordan Cambridge didn't make the team either, and they all had strong arguments as well.

Correa and Watkins come off the bench, but in reality they are starters based on minutes played. I think Watkins will easily be first team next year.

I'm surprised that Paopao was only second team given how high she is on the national award lists.

Angel got the numbers for sure, a reliable double double machine, Kamilla got DPOY so a little splitting the baby went on. Both deserving, and give Angel her flowers while she's in college, bc it is not going to get better for her.

Morrow has turned out to be such a great portal get. Totally up to task coming to the SEC.

IMO Rickea is a better player than both but being on the best team is always tied in. Rickea actually finished ahead of Angel in conference scoring, but behind that player from Fla. I incorrectly thought RJ finished first, and she did in overall scoring, but second in conf. games. Can't really argue w the rest of the first team and good for players like Barker and Scott-Grayson.

Izzy Harrison is also on that team so they'd have a strong LVFL presence. Big pluses for RJ at Chicago in that she'd be close to home and have a built in mentor in her friend Diamond.

Looks like whatever happens RJ will be a lottery pick and that's a great way to cap off KJH run of 4 straight first round draft picks. That's probably her best accomplishment as HC and please save the posts saying she inheirted, didn't recruit those 4. She didn't eff them up, OK? In fact, I'd go to the mat with anyone who says KJH was not completely responsible for Jordy being drafted. Save your fun for next spring when that streak will most likely go kaput.

Looking at some LV draft history, Chamique is the one and only #1 pick. Both Catchings and Diamond went 3rd overall, and unless I'm missing someone, no other LV has ever gone that high.

Yes, she went #1 obviously, can't believe I forgot all about her. That got corrected and we discussed just a couple of posts after the original you quoted. There were also a couple of others, Glory Johnson and Strickland who also went top four.

I know a lot of people here thought Morrow wasn't big enough or good enough to play in the SEC, but I knew she'd be good. She is such a high energy, "stuff the stat sheet" kind of player. She had no problems whatsoever sharing the ball with Angel or HVL.

Another player we forgot in discussing LVs who went first round was Mercedes Russell who went 12th, the very end of the first round.

Mercedes was a mid 2nd round pick IIRC. Were you maybe thinking of Izzy Harrison (12th pick 2015).

Other first rounds (but can't recall placement...just not lottery picks) were Kara Lawson and Loree Moore. Oh, and I think Alexis Hornbuckle was a lottery pick.

Damn, I need to give up! Sorry. You're right, Izzy 12th, Mercedes 22nd. Also right about Hornbuckle, she went 4th and played on Detriot Shock's 2008 championship team.

According to Wiki, so blame it if this wrong, Kara went 5th and Loree 10th.

What did you expect us to win? If you finish 5th in the league not many on your team are going to get an award.

Rickea deserved first team and I’m glad to see her there. Nobody else on our team or staff deserved a conference award of any kind this season.

Tessa Johnson should have made the All Freshman team over Del Rosario, she played more, and scored more, had better shooting %’s, more assists, fewer turnovers and more steals. The only category Del Rosario had better numbers was rebounding.

Davis and Scott of OM both on first team All SEC seems out of place also, I don’t see it.
