Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Hate to interrupt but just a Shout out to Men's team for great victory last night over Creighton. Next up Purdue hope all Vol fans can support the team as Tennessee tries to make first ever FF Sunday at 2:20 p.m. EST.

Go Vols

BTW EST is the only time that matters😜

So the "hit piece" on Mulkey drops an hour before their S16 game. Turns out the woman whose trademark is being a giant ahole is indeed a giant ahole. As I suspected, this is just further detail on everything we already knew. This probably makes sure the world at large is aware, not just the WBB community. Definitely designed for max reputional damage to KM. Even goes into details of her divorce.

The actual article is still behind a paywall. Here's a summary:

Yep. Read the whole article. Interesting personal accounts but her character is what we’ve all known it was. As Maya Angelou said ”When someone tells you who they are, believe them”
Makes me appreciate Kellie even more.

Just read the entire article and it wasn’t even that bad, it was like 2 or 3 players that complained and the others defended Mulkey. i thought it would be much worse but it doesn’t seem like a big deal to me.

I’m not saying Mulkey is innocent, but are people forgetting she coached at a private Christian school? Of course a lot of things were unacceptable in the early 2000’s. Times have changed. And she’s gotten a divorce? Okay…. So had everyone else? Clearly someone is out to get her with the timing of all this?

Also, the Griner situation was very political. I would have kept my mouth shut too.

I read the whole thing. (1) It is not political. (2) It is not a hit piece. If you share Mulkey's positions and attitudes it will make you smile; if you dislike them, you will have more “proof” that Mulkey is not one of the good guys.

If, after reading this lengthy essay, you would choose to socialize with her, I would scratch my head and wonder why. If you would admire her coaching skill, I would join you.

She claimed, in a very loud and very proud and very angry voice, that she refused to reply to the journalist's questions. She neglected to tell us that she passed her answers and comments along to the newspaper through her lawyers. So on that point alone, she's a phoney.

As expected, we learned nothing new from the WaPo Mulkey piece. For the paper it was worth telling those stories again, though, as the old adage "strike while the iron is hot" was definitely the entire point.

Mulkey's inability to forgive, ever, is indicative of a darkness that is, quite frankly, disturbing.

Take away

Louisiana Tech smoked Tennessee in the 1982 Final Four, stirring whispers that Summitt was a fine coach but a choker in big games, and met Cheyney in the final”

The timing is really crappy thing to do to the current players on the roster who have nothing to do with any of this.
On a Saturday when LSU will move on, it won’t get much play. Had they lost, media could have let it linger as a distraction to why they lost.
