Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Perhaps the best way to say that is - compared to her recruiting and coaching up of individual players, her in game coaching is weaker.
Not picking a fight! Happy Thanksgiving!
In 2023 Dawn had 5 players drafted....the rest of the SEC teams combined had 4. Don't even try to tell me about player development. You seem somewhat clueless.

That wasn’t a knock on development. Reread her statement. It was that Dawn may have deficiencies in her “in game” coaching adjustments and decisions.

I think you misunderstood Lucy’s post. She was complimenting her development (she said “coaching up”) of players and her recruiting. She indicated she thought those were strengths for Dawn, but perceives her in-game coaching to be less strong.

i'm not sure how Barnes still has a job. Arizona AD must just not care.
In reality, they did pull it off. Check out the replay on ESPN where it's pretty clear there was a back court violation on Flau'jae in the final seconds, right before Gilbert made the layup to win it.
I think they ruled that FJ never had control of the ball in the front court. Tough call though.
Phew Arizona looks really bad against Vanderbilt. Blakes is really impressive and Pierre is scrappy but I agree with others that it doesn't seem like Vandy will challenge the upper tier of the SEC.
I don't remember anyone saying Vandy would challenge top tier. I said Blakes is an outstanding freshman, which she clearly is, and that Vandy had improved alot from their cellar dweller days. The consensus is that Vandy will be tier 2B, along w Auburn, Miss St, etc. Out of the basement where Missouri Georgia and Florida live.
Here comes Arizona. Btw, what is “Anchor Down” supposed to mean?
Vanderbilt. As in Admiral Cornelius Vanderbilt, as in the Navy, as in ships, as in anchors. That's why they're the Commadors.

5 drafted but how many stuck it out thru training camp and made a WNBA roster?
4 of the 5 made rosters, only Brea Beale didn't. However, of those four only Boston has a real future in the league. Amihere, Saxton, and Zia Cooke are still on rosters but rarely play and are unlikely to stick much longer.

TN has less players drafted, but they tend to be really good ones.

I know that. But it’s only recently they’ve started using that phrase…which is dumb.

Just a little trivia...

"Dropping the anchor: The Vanderbilt Anchor was adopted in 2004 as a symbol of unity and strength and accompanies the team to all home and away games. Before each home game, a group or individual is selected to “drop the anchor” at midfield to mark the beginning of the evening's events."

Tennessee could take either one of its 5-man rotations and beat Vandy.
Just keep working and improving as a team. I love the elite energy. Love the chemistry. Love the elite recruiting.
GBO!

Cafego would love to squat and drop an “Anchor” out there at midfield, whenever we play at Vanderbilt. He was just like that… 😉🤙🏼
