Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Just a little trivia...

"Dropping the anchor: The Vanderbilt Anchor was adopted in 2004 as a symbol of unity and strength and accompanies the team to all home and away games. Before each home game, a group or individual is selected to “drop the anchor” at midfield to mark the beginning of the evening's events."
Okay. It’s still dumb.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like any will be available for regular cable or streaming viewing. All on pricey aps.

With the women’s basketball renaissance ESPN and other cable networks need to start picking up these tournaments. The third party price gougers are awful and it’s so frustrating for a big time WBB fan.

I want so much for both LSU and Kentucky to lose today. That's unlikely to happen, but I sure want it to.

I actually do think Kentucky will lose.

NC State/LSU should be a good game, two really similar teams. Both very guard driven with limited post play this season.

That is a rarity for Mulkey teams. I feel like ADR must have some sort of minor injury. She really came along toward the end of last season but hasn’t been used much at all this year.

Their matchup today will come down to defense and who wants it more. Two really well coached teams.

I think you misunderstood Lucy’s post. She was complimenting her development (she said “coaching up”) of players and her recruiting. She indicated she thought those were strengths for Dawn, but perceives her in-game coaching to be less strong.
I did indeed misread that. Thanks. I still disagree with her "in game" assessment.

fyi Sc has had 16 players make it into the WNBA in their history.. Tn has had 53... jus so ya know... lol
If you have to go back in time to make a modern-day argument. You missed the entire point of my statement. That doesn't surprise me though considering who you are.

sc has been around for the entire life of the WNBA, just like Tn. I can't help it that the game chicks are juney come latelys...

plus, I'm just busting yer balls, if'n youse got balls.. don't know and don't care. it's all fun...

Wow. Syracuse just took a 30-pt beating by Creighton. Coach Jack may not even make it to the end of the season.
I still am not sure if Coach Jack will be ousted by the university (because they don’t really seem to care about WBB), but at this point I wouldn’t be shocked if she just decides to leave.

Syracuse is the type of middle of the pack D1 school where recruits can go to and be stars if they’re even half decent (consistently). Just look at Fair. They really need to start utilizing the portal for future seasons. NIL money will not be coming.

In a battle of the guards LSU has taken NC State to task. LSU has been more aggressive from the tip, NC State mustered a little energy in the fourth but LSU punched right back.

Came down to defense and the boards really.

Also feel like NC State has a bit of a PG problem. They don’t have anyone who really seems to take charge of the team. They have 4 guards who are more comfortable playing off the ball and it makes it tough for them to get organized at times.

Perhaps the best way to say that is - compared to her recruiting and coaching up of individual players, her in game coaching is weaker.
Not picking a fight! Happy Thanksgiving!

Her in game coaching was weak enough to finally lose a game after winning 43 straight. It's like me telling my daughter her straight A's could have been better. Results are everything in sports.

Molly Miller starting to get things rolling at GCU now. They have a loss to MTSU and Oregon which are both respectable for that level program.

Really nice 79-50 win over Liberty today. Had a player with 21pts and 16ast.

Utah would do well to approach her I think. Different style than what Roberts ran but a very quality young coach.

In 2023 Dawn had 5 players drafted....the rest of the SEC teams combined had 4. Don't even try to tell me about player development. You seem somewhat clueless.

How many are going to be a success though? Getting drafted is one thing. Making an impact is another. More Lady Vols in the W making an impact than Gamecocks and we haven’t been championship caliber in 12+ years.

Too late on the Utah job. It's been filled. Molly will get her shot somewhere before too long.

Ah I knew he was interim but didn’t know they made it official. Bad move imo. Promoting the assistant generally doesn’t go that well.
