Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Lol that was rather mean
No it wasn't. It's just a FACT that sometimes players' bodies fluctuate in size, shape, muscle tone, etc.

I don't know why people always get so hypersensitive and take a comment like that one as if the poster was ridiculing or body-shaming or calling someone an ugly name or whatever.

The fact is Crooks does look like her body is a little bit bigger than it was last season. NOT an insult.

Is it me or has Audi Crooks gotten even bigger this year? Saw a bit of her game this weekend, don't know if was camera or what but she looked considerably heavier than last year. Didn't see that coming.

Yes I mentioned the same. She was really getting in shape at tournament time. Looks like she didn’t do a bit of conditioning or nutrition work in the offseason. Really a letdown. Her coaches fault too, that’s a young lady who needs some help in that area and she is not going to get it at Iowa State. She should transfer to Texas if she wants to be a pro.

I know this is a tricky area and I'm really not trying to be mean. But yeah, Audi seemed to be rounding into shape and was amazing in the post season last year. I was absolutely shocked when I saw her this year.

I have to trust the Iowa St staff is on top of it though. We'll see how effective she is in conf play. Maybe she's an individual who can actually be in shape at that size. Otherwise, it's inexcusable and seems dangerous.

Growing up in athletics that was just part of the deal. Your body is your tool. It’s your machine. You wouldn’t drive your car 100,000 miles without changing the oil would you?

People tend to act like this only comes up in women’s sports but there are dozens of men over the years I can remember being clowned for their physique or falling out of the league because they couldn’t stay in shape.

Zion Williamson comes to mind. Refusal to stay in shape has caused constant injury and pretty much tanked his once promising career.

When I saw Audi I tried to give benefit of the doubt and say maybe it's muscle but I don't think so. Even if it is muscle, she didn't need the extra bulk. And I wouldn't have brought it up if it was just a little bigger. Maybe just me, but it looks like alot of extra size this year.

Popeye Jones played overweight in College and NBA for years. Big baby Davis and others.

Bless her. Apparently not catastrophic, this time. But so unfortunate and concerning. You just hold your breath for her.

It's the best outcome anyone could have hoped for outside of nothing at all.

I feel for Azzi. I tore my ACL in high school, did extensive PT and used a brace for the rest of my "illustrious" D3 field hockey career through college (doctor at the time did not recommend surgery as it was a partial tear and the repairs back then were not what they are now). Always felt like my knee was never the same after the tear though. On the other hand, a teammate of mine in college tore hers and was right as rain after surgery and rehab. Where I could not walk after I tore mine, she walked off the field like it was nothing. Really just comes down to the individual at the end of the day.

Although I'm disappointed, at least she can rest up and still play sooner rather than later (or never).

I watched the reply of the Indiana Penn State game where stricklin got 27 on perfect shooting. PSt has a wide-body big who defends down low. Stricklin flashed just inside the foul line several times and was wide open as their Center was not mobile.

off topic but perhaps not. I witnessed at the game where Kyra Elzy tore her ACL. She tangled into an Alabama (I think) very wide-body driving and it was a terrible weight mis-match.

Nah, I've always felt actual physical playing shape is much different from those things you mentioned. That's what I'm commenting on. If a players' physique changes notably fm season to season it's noteworthy.
Those extra pounds have helped Kitts while losing weight improved Boston's game - thanks to Molly Binetti, SC's strength and performance coach.
