Nice finish. Very similar script to ours. Bolsters Iowa as a Q1 for us.Big-time references by the game announcers to the Lady Vols dominant defensive performance against Iowa during a major rivalry game between Iowa and Iowa State!
The Tennessee brand is back.
If it wasn’t for that game, Iowa probably doesn’t have this comeback win over a good Iowa State team!
Hmm, maybe I’ll make the trip down to MSG for the games next year! I’ve actually never seen a game there …I was watching the UConn coaches show last night and Geno mentioned that the Basketball Classic that we all just played will have the same 4 teams next year. Iowa will face UConn and Tennessee will go against Louisville. The difference is that the games will be played at MSG instead of Barclays. The following year they will have different teams, but for next year, the same 4. Playing at MSG is a surreal experience, with such a great history for college and pro basketball. It's always fun playing there.
The only time I was there myself was last years Big East mens tournament championship game. The trains into NYC were packed, as well as the bars surrounding the MSG area. Talk about atmosphere, nothing like it.Hmm, maybe I’ll make the trip down to MSG for the games next year! I’ve actually never seen a game there …
As for the UConn/ND game tonight ... I'm nervous. Geno described it as one of those games that feels like a March Madness game (and he also mentioned that games against TN against Pat always felt like that too).
ND is one of those teams I hate playing because they always seem to bring their A+ game against us no matter what. Between Hidalgo, Miles, and Citron ... I think that UConn's talent on the floor (even without Azzi) should balance out nicely against them. But we will see. Last year the game was close until UConn got into foul trouble and couldn't defend as aggressively in the paint. ND ate us alive inside, especially Hidalgo. Ugh. That was a painful experience.
That said, I don't expect UConn to shoot as poorly as they did last time around. Shade went 0-6 from 3PT and 6-12 on FG. Paige went 5-17 FG and 1-3 3PT. Ice was also 1-5 and 1-2, respectively. Overall, UConn was 43.3% (FG) and 28.6% (3PT), compared to the Irish 55% (FG) and 41.2% (3PT). Free throw shooting % was too close to matter.
I think how Strong plays this game will have a huge impact on who wins.
Whatever happens, I predict the outcome will start a narrative on ESPN that we will have to hear for the rest of the season.
UConn's six top 5 picks and three of those #1s looks pretty dang good. However, 3 of the 6 either aren't playing or have played very sporadically throughout their career. And very few of the 6 top 5 picks have played much together. One of Geno's top recruiting runs has also been the most injury plagued.Connecticut won the recruiting war by far against Notre Dame. It’ll be interesting to see if they win by the double digits they should win by.

I think you may be underestimating the rankings value of the UConn bump, specifically within the ESPN HS rankings.UConn's six top 5 picks and three of those #1s looks pretty dang good. However, 3 of the 6 either aren't playing or have played very sporadically throughout their career. And very few of the 6 top 5 picks have played much together. ND not shoddy w 3 top 10s starting and 3 next playeres all top 20. I'd take that for sure.
That is why it is hard to follow the ESPN rankings. No way Pissott was ever in the same category with Cooper. I think the problem arose when they didn't take into account the league she was playing in. She was dominating in that Catholic league where all the players were 5'6". She was not the best player on her AAU team watched them play several times you could always see that Hildago was the top player and they had a player named Rayanne Allen that went to Vanderbilt which played great on that team as well, but not at Vanderbilt. She has transferred can't remember where. Pissott still at Vandy can play a similar role to Darby if she would embrace it. She can't guard a perimeter player just no foot speed. Pissott has dropped down the depth chart there see how this season works out.Glv98, I noticed in looking at these old rankings that Justine Pissott outranked Talaysia Cooper out of high school. Wow!
I hate it that Pissott has never gotten anything going. You really never know.
