Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

my response re Father Hayes was after his daughters had attended TN, Notre Dame, MissState and Western Ky before the last two arrived at Marshall, He o longer could speak his familiar rhetoric that they were not well coached.
You forgot MTSU. I believe Annie had a brief stint there. I have a hangover about over-involved parents to this day bc of the Hayes'.

Yeah but we played everyone extensive minutes and no one over 24; most 20 or less and USC has games where they are up 40 against nobody teams and leave Watkins in 32 plus minutes and a few of the bench players get 4-6. That's the difference and that is trying to pad an individual players stats.
Juju played only 31 mins in that game, wasIowa and Clark padding Clark’s stats in her sophomore season when she played 34mins in a 40pt blowout, and was u on here saying she was padding stats? Can u tell me the difference in this, I’ll wait.
If that's the case and those other players who are getting 6-8 minutes max while Watkins is playing 32 plus in these blowout games, juju needs to learn to pass the ball because she continues to force up 3 times the amount of shots than her closest teammate. It's forced shots and it's not a good look. Shooting percentages don't lie.
Juju played only 31 mins in that game not 34, I think you con fused her with Clark, who played 34 mins in a 40pt blowout her sophomore season, was u on here saying she was padding stats? Can u tell me the difference in this, I’ll wait.

Juju is shooting 17.8 shots per game, also leads her team in assists as a Sg
45% from the field
34% from 3

Clark sophomore season 19.8 shots per game
45% from the field
33% from 3

So since Clark was taking more shots, did u say anything about that at that time, or was u praising it?

The only reason those field goal number went up was because of the shooting night against the team ranked about the same at Tennessees last opponent North Carolina Central where they left her in the game 34 minutes. Very next game she played she was moderately defended and went 1 for 6 from 3. Once they get to conference pay her numbers will be average at best. She hasn't improved her game from her freshman year. Hanna Higaldo is the front runner for POY. He'll, Hanna was much better in the McDonald's all star game when the two played then and earned MVP for that too.

Always have an excuse for her, I have no problem with whoever wins POY because that award is rigged anyway. Like I’ve always said the only award I value is Final Four Most Outstanding Player, that’s all Juju wants because she wants to be a Champion and become immortalized in the sport.

Your 3PT shooting wasn't like that against ND because the fighting Irish play better defense. It's not a hard concept.
ND played good defense but UConn could have still shot better than the paltry 18.8% they managed.

I was mostly being facetious with my original comment. I would not expect to hit so many 3pts against most decent teams or even against mid tier teams (since we clearly haven’t before).

All that said, UConn could have hit 4 more 3pts than they did and might still have lost to the Irish anyway.

My point was mostly that UConn did not play very well against ND, and it wasn’t just the awful 3pt shooting %. We did not seem correct the many mistakes we made from last year when lost to the Irish and the moment looked too big for us.

Yeah but they sure bounced back in spectacular fashion against Iowa St. Of course they're not the same level of competition but UConn was clicking on all cyclinders. Another chance to prove themselves Saturday.

Court rules preliminarily in favor Vandy QB's petition to have his Junior College yrs not count against his 4 yrs of college eligibility.

Huge if continued, and way more flies in the crazy ontiment.
Does this mean that someone can go to a Juco for 2 years, transfer to a 4 year school, and still have 4 more years?

It's just a preliminary ruling, but if the case is won, yes, it means exactly that.

Last summer that when federal court ruled that NOTHING can be done to limit athlete's right to earn, there was speculation that all eligibility limits would be challenged. I'll stop playing when I'm ready and when I have enough money.

There has to be some kind of handle gotten on all this and soon. It keeps spinning more and more wildly out of control.

Greed on all sides is out of control in college sports. I’m not opposed to people making money for time/effort/etc., especially since athletes risk injury every day, but it’s just out of control now. Of course it’s football driving the bus, too, shocking …
Just as predicted when all this started, agents, lawyers, and the families who hire them are ruling the money dash. They know at some point some kind of rules are coming so it's a 'get it while you can', uber capitalist environment.

You keep thinking surely someone somewhere will step up with some rules but so far it's crickets. I think part of that is spite and butthurt on the part of NCAA which has washed it's hands of everything like Pontius Pilate. Understandably though, they argue that the federal court ruled so completely against any limits on athletes' right to earn that they're not sure any rules are even possible.

Demand list for wide receiver in the portal. He had only 8 receptions this year!

$700K, chauffered caddy, full travel for TEN family members. Plus only the player and his family can detirmine return after injury. He'll probably get it all!

Good grief. The egos on these kids and their families are unbelievable.

Make it go away. 🤯

I suppose it doesn’t hurt to ask. Now the question will be if someone is stupid enough to pay it. If you have that kind of “F-U money” donors, why not spend it on quality players you can win a natty with rather than some buried in the depth chart guy. I know if I won the lottery tomorrow I would be trying to get players with proven winning stats.
