Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Your opinion. The last two schedules included three common opponents and three games (Oklahoma/Richmond, Ohio State/Connecticut & Indiana/Iowa) were the competition when these games will be played is equal.
You can make a big deal about playing Florida A&M or North Carolina Central all you want it doesn’t change much. #21 net ranking discredits all that extra politicking in the post.
You are trying too hard.

You are trying too hard.

You’re just confused and have no argument to present.
You don’t have to reply to the post you know that right?
I have no association with NET Ranking or the AP voters.
#21 in NET says the schedule is solid.
#15 in the AP Poll and 11-0 is the only reason there’s casual fans saying the schedule has changed drastically because as I’ve shown there’s no real difference between playing North Carolina Central and Florida A&M at the end of the day.
It’s simple there’s three common opponents from last season that are nearly the same or slightly better/worse from a year ago. Three/Four others that have been changed that are basically equal in competition.

Some people need it spelled out, you are one of those: Last season's schedule vs the schedule so far this season.

2023-24 ranked OOC games

#11 ND (28-7)
#12 Indiana (26-6)
#16 OSU (26-6)
#21 Oklahoma (23-10)

2024-25 ranked OOC games

#24 Iowa
Uconn tbd

Lol that’s not the flex you think it is.
Florida State started this season ranked #19. FSU has losses only to Illinois on the road who was ranked for multiple weeks and Tennessee who is now #15.
Florida St. will likely enter the rankings again before the end of the season.
Iowa is currently ranked #24 after moving as high as #17.

You talk about spelling it out and have the nerve to try to prove a childish point by referring to UCONN ranking as TBD.
Anybody with common sense knows the Huskies will be in the Top 10 when this game is played.
Oh and by the way, Richmond was a few minutes away from being ranked had they held on in the 4th qtr and beat Alabama.
You talking like Oklahoma last season did not fall in and out of the rankings.

When it’s all said and done, these non-conference schedules from the last two years are not much different. #21 NET ranking is the logic and facts all these casual fans are trying to avoid discussing.

Obtuse is the word that comes to mind. You are letting the tendencies from your previous alter ego surface a bunch lately.

Spin works both ways.......take your argument ref FSU. FSU was 23-10 and a #9 tourney seed last season and was ranked #18 at the time UT played them last season. Some blades have an edge on both sides you see. Learn to handle those with care.

Iowa, currently ranked #24, was #17 when UT played them this year and they are the only ranked OOC opponent thus far for the LV's. The final rankings for the 4 ranked OOC teams that UT played last year were #11, #12, #16 and #21, not even counting FSU. This season's OOC schedule won't match that no matter how hard you try. It's likely Uconn is indeed top ten when they play UT this year, but Iowa probably will not be ranked anymore by then. 2023-24 season had four ranked OOC opponents. In 2024-25 the best they will do is 2 ranked opponents, although likely just one. It's called counting, and it isn't too hard.

Btw, last year MTSU went 30-5 and was a #11 tourney seed that won in the first round. This year's squad is 8-4 and doesn't look as good, not even close.

Now, spin another one of your records from that group Obtuse. Comedy hour never gets old.

USA Women’s National Team was an exhibition and it’s misleading to even list that game.
Indiana and Iowa are pretty equal competition. Florida State was not better last season let’s be honest. Middle Tennessee State wasn’t really good last season either just slightly better. Notre Dame was without Olivia Miles.
Connecticut on the 2024-2025 schedule and Ohio State on the 2023-2024 schedule is equal.
The difference is winning.
It doesn’t matter if it’s an exhibition game. All games are measures of a team’s abilities during a 2-3 hour window.

Not really an opinion. This year, we have the #118 non-conference NET SOS, the #123 RPI SOS. Our predicted end-of-season RPI SOS is #18. Bart Torvik projects our end-of-season non-conference schedule as #54.

Last year, we had the #12 non-conference NET SOS and the #2 RPI overall SOS. Bart Torvik gave us the #8 non-conference schedule.

This year, we still have NET #4 UConn (and #318 Winthrop) which should bring our non-conference SOS up a little bit, but certainly not to the #12 ranking we had last year.

Tennessee has played their way from outside the field to holding a top 4 seed according to ESPN bracketology. That’s a sign to the LVs playing strong early in the season and getting quality wins over Florida State, Iowa, Richmond, and Middle Tennessee State. The Lady Vols are currently ranked #15 AP and #13 Coaches Poll respectively.
The first week of January is the next phase and I envision the Lady Vols making a huge statement.
GBO!

Agree on that, I believe the LV team is going to light it up in January. This team is poised to pull some major upsets imo. This style of play can work at this level with the right amount of depth and talent.

Spearman and Whitehorn are already on the rise and, I think, could become our 2nd and 3rd best scorers, followed by Spencer, Spear and Darby -- and sometimes Puckett.

Who I'm anxious to see take a big step up is Latham. She has all the tools to be truly great for us, IMO. Just gotta get over the hump. I think we'll need her to play a larger role on both ends down the stretch, especially if foul trouble becomes an issue -- and it might.

I'd also like to see Boyd decide to become a lock-down defender. She's got the quickness to do it. She can also get to the rim, but doesn't try often enough.
