Watching Vandy vs Alabama A&M.
Vandy isn’t the most athletic team on the court. SEC play is going to be tough for them.
I agree, I’m watching too and I’m just not impressed. I’ve watched them 5-6 times this season. I think they end up right about where they were last season. Likely right around .500 in the SEC maybe worse with the addition of Texas and OU.
They keep saying Pierre is 6’2” but she doesn’t look a bit over 5’11” to me. Nice player but extremely undersized in the SEC for how and where she is effective.
Blakes is a nice player, she should transfer to a real contender.
Blakes game is similar to Samara Spencer who won Freshman of the Year in the SEC.
Vandy is a decent team.
The forward and the rest of their core is going to have to play defense to have success in this league.
The officiating has heavily favored Vandy in this game as Alabama A&M has blown by defenders on several drives and got hacked but no foul was called.
Vandy won’t get that benefit in SEC play.
Watching OU and NMST and as I’ve said all season I just dont see it with OU. What I’m watching is absolutely not a top 10 team.
Slow, can’t finish, no athletic guards. Just a bunch of 6’ girls who don’t rebound.
They try to play fast but their shot selection is horrible and their pace doesn’t really benefit them. Beers has a hard time staying consistently involved because she’s so slow down the floor her team has usually taken a bad shot before she gets a touch.
We will have to disagree on Beers, she had 19/12 and 4 blocks today. She is averaging about 18/10 so far and they have been limiting her minutes to about 21 per game so far. Once conference play begins she will play closer to 30. She averaged over 28 min per game last season in spite of a fractured nose she played through while having to wear a face mask. That’s really good production from your center, there is a reason she is likely All American again this year.Watching OU and NMST and as I’ve said all season I just dont see it with OU. They won't be able to get 30 minutes out of their big 6'4'' center, she's just too big to keep up for a full game, surely. We'll need to limit her offensiv production as much as we can while she is in. If we do that, we win.
She's so much of their production — leading rebounder and scorer — that we might be a tough matchup for OU to handle? Hoping for a big win (15+) so that the LSU @ UT game could be a top 10 matchup. [IMHO it should be a top 5 matchup if we do smack OU, but poll inertia...]
