This is a video game mentality. This isn’t a knock on these players trust me but not every coach will even pick up the phone to call either player unless they fit their scheme and there is mutual interest.
And again regardless of how many posts you make not every head coach is waiting around to hit the sweepstakes of players you speculate should enter the portal daily. To a degree, even if you’re a fan of these players it’s doing them a disservice to act as if they are a need or a missing piece that can change a program. We’ve seen talented players go to new teams via the portal and it doesn’t pan out.
Just let them play and enjoy their careers it’s not that serious.

That’s pure speculation and not really logical. Kind of simplistic so to speak.
Every player in Tennessee’s rotation with the exception of Jewel Spear and Sara Puckett are putting up career numbers. Spencer although this is her final season points are down a few while field goal/3pt shooting percentages and assists are up. Whitehorn and Spearman numbers are going up across the board. Also, Coach Caldwell has said minutes will change in conference play so we don’t know halfway through the season how the minutes will be distributed now that every player has gotten acclimated to the system.

I would say your right about the minutes not changing much. She did say if the game was on the line that the best five would play most of the last quarter so we'll see if that happens. Spencer, Cooper, Whitehorn and Spear have been pushed to over 25 minutes with Spencer getting 29 one game and 27 another and they happened to be Iowa and Florida St. She has ten players she likes we know who they are and I expect one of those ten will get all the minutes in the upcoming Texas A&M game and will not be surprised to see the main five all over 25 minutes in that game.

Norfolk is actually having themselves a really good year, for a MEAC school. MasseyRatings has them just outside the top 100 — better than Tulsa and Liberty, if so. Blowout against UNC is there only truly bad performance in their 12-4 slate thusfar.

An 111-115 aggregate in their Auburn and Alabama games is no joke.

Norfolk St also has Diamond Johnson, former top 5 recruit, who was the leading scorer at Rutgers her freshman year and had two solid seasons at NC State.

Heading into SEC Conference play here’s a look at the NET Rankings. The SEC has 8 teams ranked in the NET.



The Lady Vols ranked #15/#13 continues to climb in the NET Rankings now sitting inside the Top 20 at #19 despite opinions that the non-conference schedule was weak from casual fans!

I believe the SEC conference performance Tennessee is about to have under Coach Caldwell in year 1 will be recording break.

You probably don’t know this but Norfolk St. went 26-7 the season before Johnson transferred in.
They have an overall good team. She is a good PG. Good luck to them.

Altho, they didn't beat a single top 150 team all year last season (best win was early @ Drexel) so there's a big difference in quality between this year's 12-4 open and last year's 11-4 open.

I also just noticed they've played Missouri too, so I should add them to the aggregate: Norfolk State is 168-169 in 120 minutes of basketball vs. SEC competition so far. Granted, against middle-of-the-road SEC teams.

Nah, it’s her dream school, home town and her boyfriend is here. Not a chance she leaves.

Latham is the one I worry about a little. I thought she’d be further along than this. She needs a lot of development but we’re going to need her athleticism and leadership next season.

I have a feeling she's about to break out. She could be great, IMO. I mean, REALLY great.

One thing I always think every time I see her, and that's that she has the best physical build on the team, and maybe even of anyone I've seen in decades. When Rickea was at her peak at Tennessee she was built to win, for sure. Latham's proportions are perfect for basketball, and I honestly think she could end up being a weapon to reckon with before this season is over.
