Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

If it's Auburn, maybe that would be a good spot for Kellie. She and Jon both were assistants there under Champi (sp?). Jon graduated from there. Plus, they could get Sam Williams back on staff. She played at Auburn. Thoughts?
It’s prob not in the cards for KH to get her next chance as a HC at a Power4 school. She was released from her two previous P4 jobs. She will land a D1 job somewhere eventually, just not likely in a P4 conference.

Maybe MO will hire Beth Cunningham and Kellie can go back to MO State where she was pretty dang successful.

And then there was one….where will Chavez land?
Who knows. I am thinking Texas but that remains to be seen. We are in the mix, but we loaded at guard. We will lose Paopao, Bree Hall and maybe Johnson. If Chavez is as good as advertised, she could come in and start. She will have to love competition and be willing to push herself to play for Dawn. We shall see but my money is on Texas. I hope I'm wrong and I have a history of being wrong...lol....off to watch the women's softball game against Duke on ACCExtra....

With Feagin graduating, SC needs to find a post player with skills in the portal, hopefully Tac develops, but I doubt Dawn sits on that as her only option to pair with Kitts and Edwards. I feel fairly confident Tac will develop into a good player, but you have to cover your bases these days.

Makeer will slot into the 2 and 3 spots, helping to replace both Pao Pao and Hall. I am fairly certain Raven will return for her last year, so the PG slot is in good shape between her and McDaniels. Next year’s starting 5 should look like this:
Kitts (25-26 min per game prediction)
Edwards (28-29 min per game)
Fulwiley (25-26 min per game)
Raven Johnson (24 min per game)
Tessa Johnson (21 min per game)

Top three off bench will be McDaniels, Tac and Makeer imo. The bench is obviously not going to be as stout, but the starting five will be better. It’s entirely possible McDowell will be the surprise in this class, ranked #22 she looks the part of Bree Hall, awesome defender and great shooter from outside. That type always gets PT from Dawn. Starters will average close to 25-28 minutes per game next season, big change from pst 3 years.

Expect one big pull from Staley out of the portal, likely a 4 or 5 player. The train keeps rolling.

I would be surprised if Kellie and Jon moved outside of Tennessee ever again. I got such a strong sense of relief from her when she finally got to come home to her beloved Tennessee where all her people are. I honestly would be shocked if she left it again, not knowing if she'd ever get to come back or not. The draw of living near mom'n'em when a Southern girl reaches a certain age as her parents and siblings are aging, too, is powerful.

If she keeps improving her broadcasting game, I suspect she'll just stick with that. I can't see her needing to make tons of money to be happy. Jon can coach high school or local college. Or whatever interests him.

I could be totally wrong, but I would be surprised if she left "home" again.
Kellie and Jon sold their house and moved out of Tennessee

Woo now pump the Brakes. Lady Vols have #2 recruiting class in America coming in, you don't believe me ask @KnoxLikeUs ..

Florida? But, whyyy???
I now have to wonder if it may have gotten too hard for the family to be in Tennessee and recognized in public and, perhaps, even dealing with well-meaning but pitying comments or, from some, criticisms.

In Florida they can kinda blend in. Maybe Jon got a job down there?

Man. I figured she'd never move away from family again. She had to be really, reaaaaaaallllly devastated to move away like that. Maybe they asked the kids where they'd like to live and Florida was the answer! I just hope they're all happy and healthy. Kellie Jolly will forever hold a special place in my Big Orange heart. 🧡

You were pretty sure on your previous post. Oh well

As intelligent people understand, I can change my mind as more information becomes available. I was basing my speculation on dozens of people I know who moved away for decades and came back "home" in mid- to late-life. The draw is powerful, and most would rather ride down a razor blade slide and splash into a pool of alcohol rather than move back away once they've finally gotten back home.

Obviously, everyone's circumstances and motivations are different. I just hope the Harpers are happy and healthy. 🥹

Her departure wasn’t a bed of roses, not too hard for intelligent folks to understand a move was likely healthy for all.

What do y'all think of the SEC top seed potentially being determined by a coin toss? 😳

It may just be me, but I'm thinking there should be a better way to handle that. I mean, how will the commish determine which coach will call heads or tails? I think there has to be a better way.
The coin has Texas on one side and SC on the other.

What you feel????? What difference does it make how 'you' feel. She could have easily been a Gamecock and if she left So. Cal. I would imagine she would absolutely go there since she almost went there in the first place, Geez....Maybe that's your 'wishful thinking' kicking in instead of the actual facts about her and what she almost decided to do.
Juju has a TV show on Peacock or NBC, and the first episode was about her SC visit. It was closer than you think. They visited A'ja statue with Dawn and I think that might have pushed her to Southern Cal.
