Let's face it, the committee doesn't use common sense. Once they engage all the technical systems, no matter what they are, they should use the eye test to set up the #1 seeds. In the present set-up, if chalk holds, USC and UCLA will be facing each other for the fourth time, and SC will be facing Texas for the fourth time. Years back, UConn and ND ended up playing each other four times three years in a row and it sucked. I love it when teams don't know each other, because this does not make for great basketball if they don't even have to scout because they know each other so well. USC for the fourth #1 doesn't make sense since they beat the current #1 twice during the season and tied for the BIG championship. They should have been the #3, thus not setting them up for a do or die with UConn in the elite 8 like last year. SC #1, a toss-up. Each team can prove the #1 seed, but the committee has that pick. But as I already said, the eye test and looking forward in the bracket could avoid all these rematches, which would make the tournament more enjoyable until the end. If Texas and USC switched, that would easily solve that predicament. Texas is the weakest #1, and although I think UConn should have been #4, it is what it is, so Texas should be the last #1.
No doubt, this tournament will be packed with very interesting games. BTW, the LVs lucked out, because I think they can beat Texas, they just have to get there first.
