Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Same she’s a natural on TV and has great insight. One of the few coaches I think was actually better in that capacity.

Shes one of my favorite commentators as well. Was sad to see her go to Ga Tech in the first place. Her retirement is also a cruel reminder of time and its coming for us all.

Totally different but in the same vein of retirement. It was so nice to see Jody Conradt enjoying Texas EE game right behind the bench.

Out of all the legends I think she had it right. Saw the writing on the wall and that it was likely downhill and not uphill for her career at 66. Retired in 2007 but now gets to enjoy the success of Texas from the sideline in her golden years.

Makes me sad Pat won’t get to do the same, since the disease robbed us of her. I don’t think Pat would have ever retired if she didn’t have to though.

Thought the same thing. Pat should be sitting right next to Jody enjoying the fruits of her labor.

No, Pat wouldn't have, not for a very long time. And she would have retired with at least 4 more national titles, maybe more. A lot of great players would have broken her way in recruiting over the years. Would have set a record for number of wins that would never be sniffed by anyone else in the history of the sport.

Did you read the entire post? I said she likely never would have retired unless forced to do so like she was.

Uh, pardon? I just echoed the sentiment that Pat wouldn't have retired for a long time? And lamented the idea of missing out on another decade of dominance?

"I don’t think Pat would have ever retired if she didn’t have to though." --> "No, Pat wouldn't have, not for a very long time."

Yeah, Auriemma lucked out in the all-time wins category. Possibly in the national championships, too, although beating them in the Stewart era would have been a tall order. Might had picked up a few since then, though.
