Kara Lawson said many, many, many times she did not want to coach in general and did not want to be considered for the LV job. Which did look a little suspect when she turned around and took the Duke job. But apparently no LV choice ever involved Lawson.
How do we know so much about Fulmer's process? I just thought he wanted it over before it interfered with football and wanted to piss off the least amount of people possible in the process. I never thought he made an effort or anything, maybe had a couple of conversations to keep it looking honest. Harper was easy, affordable, LV tradition appropriate, and then she went on that superhelpful S16 run. Not rocket science, and he was not a rocket scientist, esp about WBB.
We can safely say no one was impressed with her first season. But I've been pretty impressed with what she's done since. Definitely has tried to claw back, and hey, has done better in the portal so far than our fave team has. It's been pointed out that this may actually be a good time for coaching changes, since next season is going to be a major retooling and resettling process anyway with all the player movement. Something to be said for cleaning house and starting over, especially after the season she just had.
If you've been around these parts awhile, you are well aware who the "blue hairs" are/were. They do have names, I'm sure. They had an outsized influence because many were LV fans since Hector was a pup and definitely give/gave big bucks. They traveled to away games in droves, adored everything about Pat, held on to Holly til the bitter end and have had a very hard time letting go. Their influence, which probably was overstated, is definitely on the wan simply due to their unfortunate demographics. Deep Six State, if anything. But definitely once existed, was the core of fanbase back in the day. Ya'll remember the over eager game ushers from back then? Prototypical LV blue hairs.
