Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

- Although we’ll miss Rennia, we’ll be pleasantly surprised by Dye’s contribution to the team

- As VAVOL mentioned Rae is way more vocal.

- Walker’s offensive game has took a step up

- We’re faster and making a lot more buckets than usual!

- Wynn and Puckett will make immediate impacts on the offensive side of the ball

- Our depth will be our strongest asset

- Emily and Rennie look the same as last year :( Emily looks a little worse.

But hey…..this is alllllll hearsay! I haven’t witnessed anything with my own eyes.

I’m heard Miles might scratch herself out some minutes with her defense. I was least impressed with her defensive intensity watching her high school film.

At least twice now coaches have commented on her defensive intensity and speed though! Was relieved to here it because I was dubious watching her tapes from HS. Lots of loafing on defense.

She could really help us against teams like UGA and LSU that have a lot of speedy, small guards. We struggled guarding them last season and really need someone out there with the speed to keep them in front and force the turnover.

You never know when the light bulb will go on for a player -- if it ever does. Sounds like Miles had the good sense to come to Tennessee ready to take advantage of the natural gifts she was born with: quickness and tenacity. It's no secret that if you're gonna call yourself a Lady Vol you'd better learn to appreciate defense. :D

Tess from the videos seems to be moving better. I bet she has a good bball IQ it will be defense that keeps her out i believe. i hope not!

I think we have better players to cover poor defense for 1 player this season. That’s an area Dye will be better than Rennia. Even trying her dangdest Rennia was never the best defender and could not guard well on the perimeter and was late in helpside. Alexus will be much better defensively I believe and can cover more ground faster.

This means we should be able to find minutes for a shooter like Tess who maybe isn’t the quickest on the court.

Pats teams often had a player like this.

I thought she played very good defense in the NCAA tournament

I think she was just getting healthy then and did well. I was saying with Sara and Kaiya it may be a little more difficult this year but i think she carves out a niche this year. If she really gets going poor Jesse will be the one relegated to cheerleader duty.

You can tell she has a good bball IQ

i'm wondering if this player will be Sara not the quickest but can shoot the ball. I hope Tess is healthy and can contribute but with Puckett and Wynn i just don't know. If she does i will gladly have a deeper roster and if our guards get in foul trouble we have depth which is a beautiful thing

Looking at Sarah’s body I suspect she’ll be getting minutes at the 4 to spell Dye mostly. She is solid and strong. I think Tess will get some time at the 3 giving Horston or Burrell a breather. Good thing is we have options this season!

Everybody should get quite a few minutes to start the season in games where we are huge favorites. She may squeeze that down some when we play the better teams in non conference. Come SEC time we may see a 10 player rotation don't think it will go beyond so three players are going to be bench warmers for the most part come SEC play. So how you play when you get your opportunity will help decide your fate as far as playing time. I feel like we have about eight players that are solid and five players playing for two spots.

How do you get a shooters touch back🤔because Rennie is a shooter as she demonstrated in her freshmen year
You tell her not to dribble the ball like she tried to do all last season. Her freshman year it was catch and shoot. Last year she seemed like she tried to attack the basket off the bounce and that obviously wasn't working out for her for various reasons.

Yeah I feel like that was a coaching mistake. I think they were trying to get her to add something to her game but she got hyper focused on trying to put the ball on the floor. She may only ever be a set shooter. That’s ok if she can hit 50% like she did as a freshman.

I do think the previous staff was a bit hasty when they signed her. They had about as much info as the fans did and the same film.

Tess seems smart on the court and what she lacks in foot speed seemed to make up for with her ability to play the angles and anticipate last year. Hopefully, her three-ball is working for her this year and that her foot speed has increased some to help her on the defensive end

Hard to tell how an exhibition scrimmage went as you can get a different take from several different people Tennessee men played Davidson and got final score reports from Tennessee won by 25 all the way down to 6 quite a difference. At least everyone knew Tennessee won.

Is the SC game going to be streamed anywhere? The MSST game is not

Kellie runs a motion offense so I expect Jessie is doing what she is supposed to do. If she doesn't have a shot, she has to move the ball. I think I've seen her occasionally shoot a jumper off the dribble but she normally tries to set up for an outside shot. She also passes well. IMO, her biggest problem is a shooting slump.

Jessie definitely can pass!!! That’s one thing I love about her game, she is one of the best post entry passers, best I’ve seen since Ariel Massengale!

Looking at the MSST exhibition box score I think they’re in trouble in the SEC. The loss of Carter will be their undoing. They do not have a center than can compete in the SEC. They could barely compete against Miss College.

Jackson will be their star. I’ll bet she has a great season but the team does not. Then she’ll transfer somewhere after this season to finish her career.

Myah Taylor excellent as usual. They are lucky she stayed…might be their saving grace.

the MSST coach said she will play this season when is the question

the MSST coach said she will play this season when is the question

I doubt it.

He’s dreaming if he thinks she’s going to play. Almost guaranteed the other young lady will have a protective order that will limit Carter’s ability to even be on campus. He can think wishfully all he wants but it’s unlikely she plays there this season.

If she does I think it sends a bad message anyway. “It’s fine if you assault someone because we need you for the team.”

Guarantee you the majority of the coaches would have dropped the players from their team if they physically assaulted another student and were arrested.
