Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I can’t wait to get articles written about us again!

“The return of a sleeping giant”

“Tennessee is BACK”

“The legacy restored”

“Tennessee’s return to glory”

One of these days we’re going to have our moment again and I can’t wait!

All they need is a full 4 years for the new Assistant Coaches to have time to recruit and maybe they will get back to recruiting with the big time schools. Hope none of the Assistant Coaches leave or that 4 year period of waiting on great players might reset. It’s tough trying to recruit to Tennessee. It’s too bad….it was fun when great players always considered Tennessee….

Don’t really get having your AA play 30 minutes in an exhibition game. To each their own. That’s my thought.

Their starters played a lot. Guessing they’re gonna need their best 5 to play about 40 every night. Looks like they drop off hard after you get 6 deep.
Yes it was weird that they had a 30 pt lead and the Coach made no subs does she not trust any of them in a exhibition???

Watching the Texas exhibition against Oklahoma Baptist. First quarter was Schaefer 101. Lots of flopping, lots of dribbling and lots of good defense. Rinse and repeat MSST, they are exactly like his teams there.

I’m so glad Jody Conradt gets to watch them have some success in her golden years.

I'll take South Carolina fans in here any day of the week over Conn fans. At least SC is an SEC program and they have a really good reason to post here: they don't have an active board for their own team. The Conn fans have several places they could join and post with other Conn fans who enjoy reading thoughts and opinions and brag-posts about the Huskies. But they come here instead, just to stir the pot with one after another subversively insulting post. :(

I don’t think we’d like to know about them, but I’m definitely excited to see them play!

Rivers and Johnson were monsters in high school, with the addition of Cardosa, who I think is the most important piece to you all winning a championship this year, and the rest of that freshmen class, it’s going to be exciting basketball being played in South Carolina this year. The roster was already final four ready, but those pieces, IMO will put you all over the top this year.
As Dawn calls all of the parents to tell them, "don't expect your babies to play as much as they used to or maybe not at all." They may not be what we need at all this year. Just saw the article on it. Should be interesting with the top recruits who think they work as hard as everyone else, scored 30 points a game in high school, expect to play right away and now they are spectators. That makes for some ticked-off players and parents. Not a good combination if you ask me "Cock" fans:)

These articles talking bout Baylor making me laugh. They ought to be talking about LSU.

That ship sailed to Baton Rouge in leather pants and snakeskin boots.
I am so sick of Creme gushing over uconn. This year it may be the right thing to do, but he is consistent even in years like last year when they could not really shoot the ball or play great defense. They were a pretty good team, but creme thinks they should win the national championship every year. They haven't won one in 5 years with top 5 recruits sprinkled through their lineup every year. What do they need every number one and 2 player 4 years in a row to win a championship? Seems like it! They had enough last year to do it but couldn't get the job done. I couldn't imagine geno with a few 15 or 20th ranked players having to play extended minutes. They wouldn't win the league.

All NC State players were back for their exhibition game against Pembrooke a couple of key players had been out at the end of practice.

Got my new Candace Parker shirt, shorts, and shoes today! 😀
Will be wearing for our games. Everything fits!

Right foot, Left foot, Breathe, in heel. For Pat on inside top of tongue. CAN DO on heel pull.

GO LADY VOLS!!!

Does Dawn get like 20 scholarships or something? The way things are trending, their bench is going to be better than Tennessee's starters...
Their starters are the same as last season except one and we did beat them at home last season. We know they have more overall talent than we do on their roster, but I would never say freshmen are better than our starters since their starters went 1 and 1 with us last season and they are still their starters.

I'm looking more ahead when players Holly recruited like Burrell, Horston, and Key are gone. South Carolina will obviously lose good players to graduation too, but the degree to which both programs are reloading isn't even close right now...

Justine is a great player to reload and have to see what we do in the portal. I don't want to judge a roster until it is final. We've got Key and Horston another season with incoming Justine so I agree we need to go portal to replace Burrell and another addition to replace Dye as both those players are going to be huge factors this season. I know you don't think much of our freshmen class this year, but I think they are a great group of players that will be excellent for us this year and next. If you took time to look at the Sc exhibition game you will see that their freshmen went 12 -25 from the floor with 12 rebounds in 60 minutes of play. Our four freshmen went 11-28 with 24 rebounds in 64 minutes of play. I also agree 2023 has to be a huge class for us to stay on track to catch South Carolina. They are the only team were behind in the SEC right now were on a level with everyone else.

In the exhibition game SC's freshmen scored as follows: Rivers (11), Johnson ( 8 ), Feagin ( 4 ) and Hall ( 3 ). They accounted for 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Cardosa was the high scorer, had a double double and outplayed Boston.

Anyone else watching Florida's exhibition against Flagler? The Gators are much improved under the new coach. The Wyche sisters are impressive.

Yes, they got a lot more action going in the paint last night. They hardly got anything going to the basket last season. Everything was a 3 or mid-range jumper unless they could get it in transition.

They all look like they have taken a deep breath since the coaching change. They have lots of options offensively. They didn’t even shoot the 3 particularly well and still broke 100. By seasons end I’ll bet they shoot about 35% from deep as a team. They could really stun some teams. The freshman from Sweden, Rimdal, was impressive. Very smart player with international experience. The 3 pt line change is no difference for her. She can really stroke the ball. A lot of the others were coming up short but will adjust as they get their game legs back.

Florida is doing a good job of getting the ball to the high post, the defense collapses and it leads open 3-pointers or easy layups. We could do more of that. The Florida players are intentional about getting the ball there. Seems to be the goal of every player on the floor. Would love our players to have that same goal. Maybe one day.

Looking at next year’s lineup with more optimism. If Marta and Jordan Walker come back, the team is at 12 players. That includes Tamari and Jordan Horston, and all this year’s Freshmen, all of whom were shooters in high school, and will be much improved players as Sophomores. We’ll have Tamari at center, Karoline, Marta, and Sara at position 4, and Tess, Sara, and obviously Justine as shooters, and still have Horston and possibly Walker, plus Wynn and Miles. If we add more fine, but next year’s team already looks really good to me.
