Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

No doubt, and it needs to stop. I believe significant changes will be made to transfer rules/recruiting in the next year or two. It’s a new landscape and we are just starting to hear some of the negatives. The NCAA is already mulling limiting how many scholarships can be used on transfers. They are afraid it will stunt attrition of high schoolers to a lot of teams and basically create a semi-pro league within women’s college basketball. You’ll have teams of freshman playing against teams of transfers.

The recruiting is going to become an issue and a huge distraction for teams. Coaches should not be contacting players until the recruiting period and only after the player has put their name in the portal. I heard several players call out coaches for this in the off-season. Either for contacting them when they weren’t even planning to transfer, or harassing players even after they made it clear they’d already made a decision on their transfer.
Have to limit transfers per team as you say only way to keep some coaches from loading up and contacting players at other schools. I guess they could still contact, but limiting transfers to two per school would go a long way in solving a lot of the problem.

I would be willing to bet money that UT Chattanooga could beat that team that played your team by more than three points. I seriously doubt it would be more than a ten point game with Ga and Hayes after seeing both teams in action. You are free to think what you wish just quit asking me to do the same after seeing both games. UConn played their starters 103 minutes our starters played 79 minutes. Finally Ashyia Willis was as excellent a player as any player Fort had on their team. The girls I saw that were white looked to be about equal in talent plus some of the girls on Georgia college were not white.
Where did I ask you to do anything? I just posted what Massey calculated. That site is pretty good.

Not too great against less than six footers let's see what they do against SC. Edwards was the only one I saw that might give teams like SC and Stanford any trouble inside. They better have a perimeter game or they will lose to SC twice.

I would throw 6-1 Aubrey Griffin into the mix she did not play due to a sprain ankle. But looking both teams this should be a very good game, There are very few teams is the country that will be able to matchup against SC,UConn, Stanford. We are not just talking good shooters, Skilled players at all five positions on defense and offense.

Will be a game post play of SC versus perimeter play of UConn. I think both have an edge there, but SC more so in the post.

Beukers probably goes 10-12 from 3 and saves Ucon, she can be like that.....that girl absolutely took over the game vs SC last year and single handedly orchestrated their comeback win. She is the best in the game of WBB.

Controlling her is definitely a key. I think she needs to do about that well for Uconn to win at your place. She did that well up there last year and they won in the last minute of the game. I think that Boston and Cardosa is going to dominate their post players. So she better bring her A game.

It is very good against comparable talent, but against a midget it should be a lot higher. The girls on Fort Hayes weren't midgets, but they were not quality post players either.
Well, we can just agree to disagree on this one….lol.

62% against anyone is very good.

The big three players on SC were 19-28 for 67% against Benedict. Should they have been better?

Yes and Tennessee was 9 for 16 which is weak as well. For all three it means missing a lot of shots you should make. Christy Williams made about six straight layup against them without being touched. 60 percent is the measure against D1 teams in your season. Against these exhibition teams it should be 85 percent. Most of the shots we missed inside were uncontested and you should never miss that kind of shot more than 2 out of 10 times.

Each team will stand on their regular season performance and not on how well they played in exhibition games. How you do against such an overmatched opponent is virtually meaningless.
With that being said, Georgia College's women's basketball team is not on the same level as the Fort Hayes team.
Massey has Ft Hayes as #293.
Georgia College as #726.
To deny the obvious is cognitive bias.
I’m not going to argue about whether FH is better than GC. My question is exactly how much effort/energy do you think Massey puts into determining number 293 vs 726? That’s like folks who think the #52 recruit is obviously head and shoulders above #76. At that level it is a coin flip.

Massey rankings are the result of running a computer program, an algorithm, using prior results as variables. The effort is all in writing the program, not applying it to any one or more teams.

Massey is clear in stating that early season rankings and predictions are not reliable; the program gains value as the current season goes on.

So you are saying Fort Hays is a really great team. Since I watched the game I beg to differ they did not have one D1 player on the team. Just like the team we played quite void of any talent or ability other than one or two players that could make an occasional three.
Kinda crappy way to describe those kids. They may not have D1 talent but they are talented enough and have enough ability and work ethic to earn a scholarship which is more than most on here. No reason to be so derogatory of young people.

So you proved my point. At the beginning of the year they don’t know much.

I couldn’t disagree more. Those expectations are way out of line. Even against Div II teams.

Never wrong to tell the truth since you just stated what I did that they don't have D1 talent. Not having D1 talent certainly is a void they accept and results in the scholarship they are offered. You seem to get offended easily and like to tell other people how to speak or act when you shouldn't worry so much about others and just deal with your own situation whatever that may be.
