Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I have to agree with you, it was getting pretty nasty over there. Some of us, and I have posted this on the Boneyard, have a hard time listening to Geno at times. I don't like the way he talks about players publicly, but thats him, and his coaching ability out weighs what we think, We are proud of our program, and we have no control over what is done or said by him. What would you rather have, a nice coach or 11 national championships? BTW, both is a non answer. LOL

Luckily, we’ve never had to choose supporting a jerk for our Lady Vol Coach so we could celebrate National Championships. Everyone knows her name. Our Coaches have never embarrassed their school, fans, or players by acting juvenile and rude. Our conscience has always been clear in our support of our Coaches and Team, and we have enjoyed Championships in the past, and will again in the future. Right now, we have a Coach I firmly believe will beat Geno, and will be winning Championships, and she will do it with such Class, that my chest will burst with pride. Your situation is sad, mine is not, and I would not trade places with you.

Norte Dame should fire Niele Ivey.

Why?

In the last minute of the Uconn game she still had 4 starters on the floor.

Yes, but she had that rare, infamously-elusive, double-secret probation twenty-point play in her pocket. The team had executed it to perfection in practice just the day before.

If not for that, she'd have rightfully been accused of malpractice just as her counterpart was. Also, her bench players are stubborn as a Lutheran and entitled as a Presbyterian and thus didn't deserve to play, even if it meant one of her starters was lost for the season. As a result, Ivey gets special dispensation.

Westbrook recently teased the CONN men's team with this bon mot: "Roses are red, violets are blue; my program got 11 national championships, what y'all got, two?"

We'll soon see how many titles she personally has taken part in. Presumably, she's currently bragging that the programs to which she has belonged have a total of 19 titles between them. Maybe she expects her jerseys to be retired at both schools, too.

Exactly

“It’s giving” is a figure of speech. It’s used when one thing resembles something else or when separate things share a connection.

Examples: if I wore a suit with shoulder pads someone may say it’s giving linebacker. Or looking at Kellie I’d say it’s giving national coach of the year.

The poster is saying it appears Fulwiley will attend LSU.

Hope that helps keep you hip and in the know.
That the same guy that thinks she is from La.?

is this true 👀

Yep. Reported in Hartford Courant, ctinsider.com, theuconnblogspot, and other outlets.

She recited her poem in jest while she and men's team member exchanged roast comments during the UCONN "First Night" festivities this Fall.

Just thought it was funny that she's boasting, even in jest, about the titles won by "her" program.

Love ya, creekdipper, but I don’t think it was inappropriate AT ALL for her to make that claim. It IS her program! Lord knows I hope our Lady Vols look in the Tennessee trophy case and take pride in the fact that all that crystal was won by their program — the long line of sisterhood that forever binds them all to both the past and the future to all its proud accomplishments.

I thought the good-natured ribbing was funny and just typical of the type of jokes someone would make at a roast!

I admit I like EW and still wish her well, but even if I didn’t I’d be hard pressed to find anything wrong with what she said.

No, I get the good-natured ribbing and that players share a sisterhood (even when the program wasn't their first choice). Just think that bragging rights seem diminished when neither player was part of a championship. At this point, their comparative record is a 0-0 tie.

Look at it this way: The Lady Vols have 8 titles, but that hasn't meant a lot lately, and I doubt many players brought that record up, even when we made an Elite Eight under Holly.

But it's not a big thing. As long as we can keep Westbrook in check (and especially if we beat them), she can enjoy all the past CONN glory to her heart's content. Our goal is for her to graduate with "unfinished business."

Even if it's a joke, that's wat British ppl call expensive joke. I would've joked With something else especially when she's not Part of those championships.

Wow - Geno issues a statement like he lives in the White House or something. Sounds like he's trying to convince people of something he's unconvinced of. It's more of a political statement. It doesn't read as genuine or sincere - just what he thinks people want to hear him say.
