Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

keep this far away from the womens game I like the innocent NIL deals like T-shirt’s and merch deals 😂😂 we can’t compete with these other states and programs like UConn and UCLA
what do you think of paige buckers deal with gatorade first college player to endorsement. its bad enough espn is in unconn backyard and they root for the home team.

Great players don’t automatically translate to great coaches.

Yep I’ve made that point on here several times. That’s why I shared that. Tina is one of the all time great WBB players. That hasn’t translated well to coaching.

Stephanie White was the same. I said when she was hired at Vandy that would be a crash and burn. Everyone told me I was nuts because she was such a great player.

It’s a chance for Evina Westbrook to bring up her 5 PPG😂

If Muhl and Bueckers are still injured when we play I think we will beat them. Evina will likely be playing PG and it would be so, so sweet for us to hand one to her.

She’s not a natural PG and never will be. Geno has gotta be pulling his hair out. He HATES when he has to play someone at PG he doesn’t want to. Their relationship is about to be strained.

We need to get better if we are going to be around near the end. Would love to pin a loss on UConn at their place....who wouldn't. The long run is more important.

UConn is down to three serviceable guards (Westbrook, Williams, and Ducharme), and all of three of them will likely start until Fudd, Bueckers and Muhl heal up. If any of them get in foul trouble, there is no one on the bench to help out. If any of them have bad games, lord help them.

They can expect to pencil in losses to Louisville, Stanford, and South Carolina with their current set of injuries. GaTech could beat them if they play well. Tennessee can get them too in February, even if those players are back. Don't think they lose a game in their cupcake conference, but they will have their work cut out for them to get good seeding consideration in the NCAAT. They could very well get seeded where they need to take out a SC, NCState or Stanford just to make the FF.

It will be interesting to see which of the next three teams smell blood in the water with all these injuries leaving the CONN guard roster very thin.

Most B-Yarders seem to acknowledge that CONN can still waltz through the BE conference schedule undefeated.
Louisville for sure. GA Tech possibly. Not sure about UCLA...seems they have their own injuries.

The shallow bench is also going to require lots of minutes for the 3 remaining guards, so hopefully there aren't any further injuries from overuse. He may have to go with a 3-big lineup a bit.

I was just looking at the players still on that roster uninjured, and I can't help but think about 95% of all programs in women's college basketball would happily trade their own rosters with Connecticut's lefttovers. They should still be good enough to win all but maybe a couple of games.

Well, then losses to Louisville and SC then.

Yeah, they have no shortage of talent. But they do have a current shortage of guards. All the talented bigs in the world won't help if they don't have any perimeter players left.

Great article about the two Iowa ladies. Looking forward to this game. And I would bet money that 100% of the reason that Lisa Bluder didn't offer Ashley a scholarship is because of her dad. Sounds like a piece of work, and he certainly makes himself noticeable on the telecasts. Good on her to be willing to pass on an exceptional talent like Ashley to avoid the toxic dad. It's a shame, because his girls all seem like great characters.
