Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Rickster you know i respect ya posts and i can sorta see where you are going but the thing Dawn has done that Holly couldn't was win! Now, should she possibly have won another natty by now ... probably but in tight situations she wins (most of the time). I am NOT a SC fan (even though i have a younger cousin on the FB team) but i gotta give her credit to building that program and their fan support. Something Holly did the opposite of.

Those two trains were heading in different directions long before the end. I would be the last one to speak ill of Dawn. She has had a great impact for good in WBB and we should all celebrate her accomplishments. No one who knows me will ever question my admiration of her accomplishments.

That said, a great person is not necessarily a great coach. It's just that when I watch her teams play, they seem to be running the same offense we did 5+ years ago and are about as good at it as we were. Given their roster, there is no way Mizzou should have gotten close. Maybe Mizzou is really good? IDK.

Totally agree about Dawn. Good person. Good for WBB. Still not convinced she is a good game coach.

Maybe we should genuinely check in on our friends... lol

@Rooster1 @SCspur are you guys ok (i feel like i left out another poster)?

I remember someone saying they are going undefeated and nobody was gonna touch them 👀 I kept saying don't doubt the power of the SEC this just proves how tough our conference can be.

It makes me laugh that posters were stating because TN was a top team it just proves how bad everyone else was 😂😂😂😂😂
It’s the petty for me 🤣🤣🤣

I think Mizzou is going to surprise a lot of teams…and remember they played without Blackwell. She’s a beast. There will be no gimme games this season in the SEC. None.

Missouri won't do much just because of this lucky win..They'll be ok but not great.

But let it be said on here and just because we were winning meant the whole women's dynamic was worse 👀

Damn if majority got worse doesn't mean our team is one of the best ? 😂

The reason SC lost the game was for one reason and one reason only they could not make a shot. When you create 18 more shot attempts than your opponent and get 20 offensive rebounds to their 7 should be an easy win. Henderson and Cooke go 6 for 31 and take more shots than Cardosa and Boston who made 14 of 23 in the game. If I am the coach I want to know why we can't get the ball to players that are producing the points. What I saw was players that had a lot more opportunities to feed the post, but instead took a shot themselves. The part of the game I saw Missouri looked quite vulnerable in the post and it proved true when Cardosa and Boston got the ball. So yes if they played again and SC decided on a better shot selection they win by double digits. SC won everything that effects winning except shooting the ball. Three point shots turned out not to be a factor SC made six and Missouri made 7. Missouri had a few more free throws, but huge was inability of two SC players that start to make a decent amount of shots for the attempts they took. I don't think they should've taken as many as they did Boston was available way to many times when they took a much tougher shot than she would've had.

Just watched the full game.

I have to concur with Volfan2012. Mostly SC lost this game because of a very cold shooting night. They got the looks they normally do, they just wouldn’t fall. MIZZOU is a tough place to play and this is always a good rivalry game so the teams usually play a bit tight.

I will agree there was some very questionable officiating. Particularly on some of the offensive foul calls against SC. Just not that much contact and on at least one Boston made the bucket and Frank was definitely in the restricted area. The SC post players were neutralized by the officials a bit which was very much to the benefit of MIZZOU. SC picked up several calls early and got tentative.

Over the course of the entire game I did feel SC overlooked MIZZOU. I think they felt they would just cruise with this one, I’m sure they thought so even more when they heard Blackwell was out. Didn’t care for the body language/facial expressions during dead balls. Lots of smiling and eye rolling, none of them looked very serious. Even toward the end of the game you just didn’t see any sense of urgency. Especially from Henderson.

Until Cooke becomes a better shooter teams are going to play off her. She has yet to prove she can consistently shoot a reasonable percentage from the floor. She is very easy to bait into long shots, she can’t help herself. If that continues I think we will see Littleton and Hall considerably more as the season progresses.

Vandy mixed in with all the usual suspects. Could CSR be having an impact on recruiting? Watch and see, If she gets one big name early more could follow.

We get u are a uconn fan and pumping up ralph lol but we not doing that here... let her go that somewhere else not pumping her up in this LV thread lol

Kellie should send flowers to both Pingeton and Staley for providing so much extremely helpful information about both teams.

Nothing new as SC has pretty much played the same way all season. Dominate the boards, miss lots of shots and can't make free throws. Rebounding wins games when the other team is not making a high percentage of their shots.
