Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Go like a page or two back and I posted what she said about NC state before the game lol idk why she clowning NC states arena when UNC doesn’t even pull 5k a game & they also play in a different arena then the men which is due for a paint job seriously that UNC women basketball arena is hideous
I do not understand how you recruit for WBB to a school where the administration makes the women’s team play in an inferior arena to the men. If I were recruiting for UT I would rip UK and UNC on that every time and I would do it standing on the court at TBA while explaining “The Summit”.

I don't think her comment is necessarily. Nikki is a very good coach but never get top recruits. U can't compare a veteran coach with her that's y transfers ran to Kim. But those guards came from Nikki

The question was set up to throw Nikki under the bus, but Dawn did not bite. SC only beat LSU by 4 points the last time they played there when NIkki was coach.

Banghart can coach, but she could learn a lot from Kellie re: communication skills with media. Banghart has set herself up for mockery lately.

In context, her comment about the size of State's gym and crowds were part of explaining that her younger players (she has many) plus her mid-major transfers weren't used to playing in front of big crowds, so they would have to adjust. A writer pointed out that her blunder was throwing in the bit about "small gym" and "we'll see bigger crowds" (close paraphrase) but especially the "it's easy to sell out small gyms" slight. All that did was unnecessarily add fuel to a rivalry game. Maybe she's trying to imitate another outspoken barfly from her former neck of the woods.

The writer pointed out the irony that the UNC women's venue only holds about 1200 more than State yet her team is only drawing an average of around 1500 fans this season.

At least she can recruit.

I doubt Kellie will ever say anything that would get her dragged in public for. It's obviously not impossible that she would, but I'd be truly shocked.

Kellie is by far, to me, the best at standing in front of reporters and cameras and answering their questions and making personal comments of any coach today. Now, some may actually prefer the type of coach who uses pressers to make wisecracks, to needle and insult their own AND opponents, and some people believe that's "good for the game."

But personally, that's never been an approach I appreciated. How Kellie faces questioners is exactly perfect to my taste. She makes me actually feel tenderness toward her and her team because I can feel her love for them through her words and body language. That's pretty special.

That's ironic given that NC. State WBB plays on a court themselves that is inferior to the men's team.

Does a lot of them do it only because of crowd size they draw to get a better atmosphere with a small crowd. I know that is why Kentucky does it that crowd they had last night could've fit in a high school gym. For a few minutes I thought they had went on the no one allowed except team and relatives until I noticed a few people I was sure were not relatives. To add the women's team can play in Rupp anytime they want to they choose not to.

Goodness y'all. All I did was post a picture in the "non lady vol forum" of a noteworthy accomplishment & some of you are negative for no reason like why? Do you guys really dislike the SC basketball team that much? Dawn has major respect for Pat & the lady vol program. Why knock what she's trying to build

Because we want to beat the living stuffing out of her team.

In their defense, the weather was awful there, which kept a lot of people home who might otherwise have attended.

Many women's programs CHOOSE to play in a smaller gym because it makes a smaller crowd more effective. If you take 1500 fans and put them inside the cavernous TBA they'd have very little impact on the feel of the game. Put that same 1500 fans into a small gym where they're all closer to the floor and louder because the space isn't sucking all the sound up into the waaaay high rafters, then those fans can create an advantage for the home team.

That is sad.

The men draw 25000 women lucky to get to 5000 against a top opponent. I love women's basketball but still has a long ways to go to get the crowds that the sport needs. Progress is being made.
