In context, her comment about the size of State's gym and crowds were part of explaining that her younger players (she has many) plus her mid-major transfers weren't used to playing in front of big crowds, so they would have to adjust. A writer pointed out that her blunder was throwing in the bit about "small gym" and "we'll see bigger crowds" (close paraphrase) but especially the "it's easy to sell out small gyms" slight. All that did was unnecessarily add fuel to a rivalry game. Maybe she's trying to imitate another outspoken barfly from her former neck of the woods.
The writer pointed out the irony that the UNC women's venue only holds about 1200 more than State yet her team is only drawing an average of around 1500 fans this season.
