Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Well, Taylor left UGA for ATm, don’t know if it was a good move for her, better talent in Ga tbh, but guess she looking for the next thing And saw what Blair did. She maybe made a big mistake here, time will tell.

She gets at least a 5 year reset with more money. How is that a mistake? SC recruits GA, not Texas. So she doesn't have to worry about battling SC and Tennessee for the top recruits in GA.

I watched the majority of the game and did not think it was called evenly. UCONN was allowed to be way more physical.

UCF came to play and brought the defensive energy. They got called for a bunch of loose ball fouls playing tougher than UCONN.

Meanwhile UCONN was hammering their bigs in the paint with no call.

UCF sealed their fate not making their Free Throws but I did not think it was a fair whistle. UCF style of play was punished and it took the fun out of watching the game. They turned UCONN over several times on what would have been breakaway layups but phantom fouls were called.
l watch 3/4 of the game and unconn would drive to basket and lend in and ucf player would have hands uo get called for the foul unconn player created. while got away with more on defence end that what i saw to. ucf got short end of refs most teams do in close games refs want espn love.

Yes, congrats to the two good teams in the Big East. Tournament play has little to do with how competitive a conference has been all season. There is a reason that many SEC teams got in. Same with the PAC-12. In those two seasons the conference slate is long and arduous.

In the Big East you have a total freebie every other night playing a team like Butler or some of the other 4-5 bottom dwellers.
Just showing what happens when you put them all together.

Not really. I don’t expect MTSU or Chattanooga or Tennessee St or Roane State to have the same funding as the University of Tennessee
I imagine that funding is per capita of enrollment. The University of Tennessee happens to gather around $45 million from its conference and that is what set's if financially apart.

To the original point, why would a smaller less prestigious school being less funded than the state’s two flagship schools be an issue as the poster is alluding to?

My digression may be from the original post, but not to the post to which I was responding. As to prestigious school; on what do you base prestige? Like some say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Also, why do you choose to argue with a post that agrees with your post?

Prestige speaks for itself. If we are discussing sports and academics and overall prestige, a small SWAC school isn’t going to match up with an SEC school nor should it be “funded the same”. The error of the OP is that they are likely thinking with some emotional irrational political point rather than realize that funding advantages of larger athletic programs come from more fans, richer donors and earning that $ via success and business planning over decades

Somebody posted this on Reb a few weeks ago, I just saw it today:

Damn, Sophie!

This is the stuff I’m talking about with Blackwell though. Cunningham was immature to comment. No need to double down on that. Just don’t think Blackwell can toe the line enough to please most college coaches. That’s why I think LSU/Mulkey would be a good fit for her. Mulkey can work with someone like that and make them great. If they don’t wanna be great she’s not afraid to tell them to take a hike mid-seaosn.

Yep, that is totally Kim's bag. I have alot of respect for her giving the good-but-troubled seniors a chance, it seems to them clear the slate and have a focused season ahead of the draft.
