If she couldn’t do it at UGA where she was at the only school most in state girls want to attend, she is gonna face hard reality in Texas where they have many choices. And agree, she is not a great coach to begin with, she prob was smart to grab the money when it was there,I think it has more to do with someone just needing a reset. She's been at UGA 7 years and done little to nothing. Resetting the clock somewhere else was probably a good move. Georgia has one big positive--nice recruiting base. One big negative--facilities.

I said in State girls that wanted to stay home.. let’s see Joni recruit Texas state now…At aTM, they prob think she has big recruiting ties to state of Georgia, maybe. But I think home grown Ga talent will see she did not accomplish a helluva lot at Georgia and now she wants to drag them down to College Station? For what? Blair’s record? ****, she is gonna have a hard time selling that. Not really sure its fair to say she only had one school (GT) to worry about. Literally every school east of the Mississippi has some recruiting ties to Georgia. Tennessee used to kill it in Georgia.
The other thing too about Atlanta is that it is now a transplant town. I can't remember the exact % but its more than 50% of the residents now are not natives of Georgia. So you have a lot of people who really don't have the same level of loyalty to the "state" school as someone that grew up in Macon for instance.
Agreed, what she does with them will decide their fate though. I thought she recruited really well at Ole Miss considering, but did nothing with the players she got.
Austin and Scott have not improved one iota under her tutelage. Both extremely talented but coasted under Coach Yo. Austin regressed this season as did Scott IMO. Joni is very similar, can attract talent, but can’t take it from point A to point B.
Coach Jack at Buffalo is a coach who can get a player from A to B. You see her year in and year out take players who are almost there and she gets them ALL the way there. I believe Kellie has also shown she can take a mediocre player and get them contributing at a high level. Rae and Horston both improved immeasurably from Sophomore to Junior under Kellie. Key and Walker were also a ton better this season compared to last.
