I don't believe Dawn has any issues with the portal. She brought in two transfers Kaela Davis and Allisha Gray who played in a part in winning her only NCAA title so far. Geno been bashing the portal while using it himself. It's harder now to collect 5 star top 20 players and having them ride the bench for 2 or 3 seasons easing them into the rotation in junior and senior seasons. That is why you need to transfer to coaches that will tell you the truth and also do your homework on where players are transferring from and where they are getting to play. There are a lot of coaches out there lying to players. Not every player that gets in the portal is going to be successful, but at least they can make an educated decision. Coaches like Geno, Dawn and others don't like the portal because they know it is going to level the playing field in a few years and there are going to be probably double digit teams that can win the NCAA title.
Elena quit basketball. Transfered and played volleyball. She played for a year before deciding to come back to basketball. Very unique situation.
Yes, most folks picking SC and Stanford, but would not be surprised if either UConn or Louisville won tonight.I’m actually thinking UConn and SC.
I tend to go with who has the better top end talent when it’s close in women’s basketball. Though Louisville and Stanford have very good teams and excellent coaches, they don’t have Aliyah Boston or Paige Bueckers.
Last year about 16% of mcbb transfers didn't find a new home.Eh just sounds like more posturing from Geno. Trying to scare his own players out of transferring.
Every single one of those players will likely find a new home and for most it will be a better fit. Geno doesn’t like anything he can’t control and the portal creates chaos for coaches.

I would think the women's side would be similar.

I wasn't defending anyone. I knew what the % was on the men's side and thought it would be similar on the women's side. Evidently, they're not.out of 1,159 entrants in the portal last season all but 56 found a new school. 26 opted to return to their current school, 5 turned pro, 21 ended their playing career and 2 “other”
So removing the 26 who didn’t trans get and 5 who turned pro only 21 players “didn’t find a new school”
So just over 2% didn’t end up at a different school. That’s not at all a catastrophe and probably a good portion of those that ended their playing career did so due to injury.
Defend Geno all you want, he’s a pompous a** and spouts off all the time without actually making any sense. As he did in this case…
All the Grad transfers and P5's will find a new home. Some of the mid-majors may not but most will.out of 1,159 entrants in the portal last season all but 56 found a new school. 26 opted to return to their current school, 5 turned pro, 21 ended their playing career and 2 “other”
