Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Latson is talented. i like her game as well.

Watching FSU vs Georgia St and Latson already has 7 points. Announcers said she’s scored 62 points through 2 games, more than any player so far. Definitely an early favorite for freshman of the year. I forgot former Lady Vol Massengill transferred to FSU.

Cannot believe that offensive foul call. Didn’t think that was a bad screen and wow, just not in that moment. Gotta swallow your whistle there for the home team.

To VolBall09: OMG. Audrey Warren -- the concussion waiting to happen -- is now playing for Georgia! 😲 I thought we'd cringed for the last time as her final season at Texas ended, but there she is at UGA in this game I just happened up. And guess what!? She just went to the bench to get checked out after getting bumped pretty hard.

Jeez. I can't believe it.

Naturally, will be watching Tennessee and Indiana tomorrow night. Another big game tomorrow night is Texas at UConn. Good chance for some scouting.

Texas/UConn may not say much about either team early on given all the injuries for both teams. Texas injuries seem to be brief anyway. Rori Harmon may not be ready for this game. Texas is pretty banged up right now but theirs are key injuries are mostly day to day unlike UConn’s season losses. Doubt this game will tell us much about either team really which is unfortunate

If there could possibly BE a silver lining for Connecticut and their injury losses, I suppose it would have to be that the rest of the roster has the entire season to figure it out instead of having to switch horses, mid-stream, halfway through the season or even further down the line. If they don't lose anybody else besides those two nasty B's ("nasty" as slang for super competitive, "B's" as in Bueckers and Brady 😂), I could see them continuing their FF streak.

So #7 Louisville eeked out a 5-point win over Belmont, and homestanding #4 Iowa had to go to overtime to beat Drake by six.

Seems that there will be lots of competitive games this season with Top Ten teams challenged early.
Belmont doesn't get any top 100 Hoopgurlz recruits, but hard to find better players than Wells, Jones, and Harvey. Team doesn't have quite enough size but their guards are as good as almost anybody. Wells is one of the best guards in the nation.

Right. Belmont has shown that their showing against us last year was not an aberration. And Drake has been a force in the MVC for years, ruling the roost until Kellie's MoState team wrestled the conference crown from them. Baranczyk left a strong foundation when she left for OK.

The majors can't take the good teams from smaller schools for granted any more.

But they are Boston College we are Tennessee it shouldn't have happen to us
Thing is that might be where Ohio State Peaks this year. As teams settle in and become more comfortable playing together, that press is not going to be as effective. Ohio State picked the best time of the year to play a Tennessee team with that pressing Defense. We will see it again in the Bahamas if we get to Matchup with Texas. We will have improved by then

I just finally took a up close and personal view of each SEC teams full regular season schedule and man LSU literally seems to have a division 2 schedule while they continue to climb up the rankings. Like seriously the only team i recognize on their schedule outside of the SEC is oregon state. LSU / Mulkey pulling the wool over americas eyes beating up high school teams scoring 140 points and will get a high seed in the NCAA tourney and lose to a mid major because they were not challenged at all outside of SEC play . That's embarrassing lol

Well, everyone will see what they have when they play UT and SC, for better or worse.

Anyone know where Rori Harmon was last night for Texas? Haven’t watched any of their games yet. Just noticed she wasn’t on the box score against UConn.

She has an injured toe. Supposedly day to day.
I watched the end of that game after ours was over.
Fudd was unbelievable in the 4th quarter, 17 points.

Fudd was shooting unbelievably (lots of turnovers though), but how about Sonya Morris for Texas? She was fantastic as well. I was most impressed by Griffin from UConn. She's going to be a huge spark plug for them off the bench. If she is consistently that efficient on offense, she will wreak havoc game in and game out. UConn drops down without Bueckers and Brady, but I think they will be a lot better than I was anticipating.

Hard to say how good Texas is without Rori. She's the engine that gets them going. Even without her, they stayed competitive. Once her and Jones are fully healthy, they will probably romp through the B12.
