Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Quite frankly out of all the LSU players I was more impressed with their freshmen Sa’Myah Smith. I remember us recruiting her out of HS before her knee injuries. If she can stay healthy she will be a good one.

Reese is great but truthfully I would hate to be a teammate of someone who gets 99% of the attention no matter what she does or doesn’t do.
This..this...this.....Angel will get all the praise for anything LSU does successful this season . Flaujae and Morris are real deal players but will always be in the rear view with Reese. Imagine next season with Williams , ADR and Velez .....Mulkey has got a lot on her plate to manage besides basketball .

Reese took 14 shots. Johnson took 9 (in 2/3 the playing time), Morris 8 and 3 others with 5-6 shots. That's a pretty even shot distribution, especially since Angel only missed on 3 tries.

LSU shares the ball. Kim won’t put up with selfish play but we were referring to the constant media attention Reese gets but will over shadow other great kids no matter what they do. Im just saying I do feel for those other players because they deserve their time to shine when they have their moments.

I sorta get it. They will spoil and pamper every minute she is at LSU. She is probably the key to their success down the road, much like Pointer was on last years squad. They aren’t going to step on her toes any second until she leaves for the wnba. Probably smart, Brenda struggled with some of that at Maryland and it’s hard to keep all the super high egos level. Everyone wants to be the star

Point taken. Is this really any different than any other team with a superstar? It was the same thing last year for SC (Boston), UConn (Paige), Iowa (Clark), Baylor (Smith) and UK (Howard).

I actually feel like Boston should be used more by SC. Boston is not coddled at SC, never has been.

Not about how often the offense runs through her, but how much she’s talked about in the media compared to her teammates. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…the best player/star is the one that will get the press.

Since she is the NPOY as well as the NDPOY the pub is hard to avoid....But she gets no favors from her coaches or teammates. She is self disciplined to play 100% at all times on both ends of the court and within their system.

They don't seem to limit their recruiting to the U.S.

Lopez Sénéchal-g/w. (portal/grad. transfer). Mexico-France
Edwards-4. Canada
Mühl-pg. Croatia
Juházs-wing. Hungary. (transfer)
El Alfy- c. Egypt
You missed Ines Bettencourt, a freshman from Portugal. In fact, the starting lineup for our exhibition game had players from 5 different countries.

For the other LVFL Emily Saunders fans out there, she made her Youngstown State debut last night in a win over SoCon league favorite Wofford, 81-72.

Emily came off the bench and made the most of her 7 minutes, scoring 7 points, grabbing 2 rebounds and blocking 2 shots. Go Emily!
Practically equaled her UT career in one night.

SC is at College Park Md. tonight, 6 PM on Espn2 to face #17 Maryland.

Not sure what to expect from the Terps this year. Brenda has built a different type team this go around, every player on the team is listed as a guard except for the Swiss girl, Chardon, who is listed as a 6'2" F. There are 3 "guards" listed that are between 6'2"-6'3", I am sure they play like traditional wings. Not one center on this team, and just the one forward that barely plays. Starting lineup is 3 true guards and two wings, interesting. It’s like they have sacrificed some of the paint in exchange for a faster more athletic lineup that will play fast tempo.

Haven't watched them play yet this year, but I am speculating they play a fast break quick tempo style with all those guards/wings, probably trap some and shoot the three a bunch also.

I'll call this one and say SC 82 Md 67. Boston/Feagin/Saxton/Watkins/Cardoso should feast down low against this smaller lineup. SC guards are going to be working real hard on defense this game, will take some of their offense away. Bigs is diff story, the SC front line players will score a bunch, Dawn is going to try to punish those smaller girls down low.
