Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Well, not much to say about Vandy if I’m being honest.

They are very undersized maxing out at a generous 6’2” listing for Washington. Ole Miss has no bigs and made them look small.

Vanderbilt just appears to be going through the motions. They are trying to do everything right, but at half speed.

They aren’t much of a 3 point shooting team which is a problem for them considering how little size they have. Not a very good rebounding team and that’s bound to start looking worse as SEC play continues.

Their best lineup goes 5’6”, 5’7”, 5’8”, 6’1” and 6’2” and the listings for the last two appear generous. Our best lineup goes 5’8”, 6’1”, 6’2”, 6’2”, 6’5”.

There is just no way they can check us in the paint or in transition. Jackson and Horston have enough rise on their jumper they cannot stop it. Darby has also been known to shoot right over a shorter defender. She did that to Barber a couple times in the Bama game.

I expect to see more emphasis on getting the ball to the post and interior passing against Vandy. We will have a distinct advantage inside.

Arizona may get upset by Oregon State today. Oregon State is coming off a big win over an Osbornless UCLA team.

I do not believe Arizona has the size to contend with Oregon State in the paint. Beers and Mitrovich are both a load and can really play. Their guard play lacks some to be desired but has been better the last couple games.

Lauren Ware is missed on the interior for AZ. She brings a physicality that neither Martinez or Reese can duplicate.

I'm all for it how long does that Coach get to ride on having a player step way up and get her to a final four. She has been coaching rather terrible since even though she is getting highly ranked players. Vandy should've beat them last season. Vandy had the game and a girl made a miracle shot to cost Vandy the game. Stanford played a terrible game and still won by 16.

Arizona made it to the championship game that year by knocking off Uconn if I recall. I’m not a huge fan of that program or their coach but she knows what she is doing, she is an excellent coach and is becoming quite a good recruiter as well.

UConn‘s game against Depaul has been postponed. The mash unit that is the UConn Huskies does not have enough healthy players to start a game.

UConn does not have the required 7 scholarship players ready for Sundays game with DePaul, so the game has been postponed.

Injuries or illness? Either way, must be pretty bad to already know on Friday that you won't have enough players for a home game on Sunday.

Doesn't Edwards have a foot injury? The injury/illness list for UConn this year has been unbelievable and includes both main coaches. Maybe they need to just pack it in for the season.

Oh sorry yes. Allayah Edwards, who had really stepped up for UConn lately. Which may be why UConn doesn't have enough healthy to play.

What's up on twitter w Elzy/Dre?

Kyra didn't sign the waiver that says she WOULDN'T have played at UK

Which was correct if you ask me. Read the ESPN article. She could have played if she stayed at UK and met the requirements to resume play (whatever that was). Sounds like she was told if she transferred without graduating she would have to sit with it being her second transfer.

All of that makes sense with the new rules, I don’t see a way around it and it wouldn’t have been appropriate to sign that form.

I agree. I was just asking if it was talked about. It's gaining attention. Edwards basically admitted she didn't fulfill her obligation and now trying to guilt Kyra into signing... Kyra basically said be blessed and have a great 23-24 season 😂

There are several players who are questionable for Sunday and due to Depaul‘s travel accommodations they probably felt it was better to reschedule than to have Depaul travel and then have the game canceled.

So... why isn't this a forfeit? The COVID bs is over...

Every conference has their own cancellation\forfeit rules and procedures. The Big East changed their procedures last year because of Covid. I do know that the Big East rule states that you must have seven game-ready players at tip off. UConn currently has six, with four questionable. No forfeit.
