Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

if one would have betting odds on A&M winning two games including Miss State - no game is guaranteed for the higher rated team. Hopefully, the message of taking care of business is even more apparent.

what if Ky would beat Alabama just might happen (note: i was the one who said KY wouldn't repeat)

You would normally expect some upsets in any tourney, but this WSEC tournament is looking like a donnybrook in the making.

Georgia vs LSU tomorrow afternoon. Should be good.

I like the LSU has to play UGA. I truly think it could go either way.

Even if LSU wins they are going to have to earn it. Will be a physical game and take some out of them.

Bama not nearly as physical a team for us to deal with if they beat Kentucky.

We know how that turned out. Hopefully, Kellie isn't as liberal with the Subs in the first half tomorrow as she was in the final game of the season. Alabama let Kentucky hang around tonight and got beat because of it. I think Alabama was overlooking Kentucky.

Dang, Robyn Benton a total non-factor but Jada Walker has been incredible.

I just nicknamed her Jada "Everything Everywhere All At Once" Walker. What a game she had!

I hope our players took note of the fact that any lazy passes are going to get picked off by Kentucky, and they better not let the Cats get confident.

I thought it was nuts when they hired her. Previous coach was doing pretty decent job and they got rid of her just to hire someone with 0 coaching experience.

Stallings then took over a floundering Texas tech program, but was accused of mistreatment and fired from there.

Marlene Stollings had a fine record at Minnesota, getting the Golden Gophers into two NCAA Tournaments in her four seasons there. On the other hand, if her coaching style at Minnesota was the same as it was during her two season tenure at Texas Tech then it was only a matter of time before things went south. The B1G is one of the two dominant conferences in the country. Minnesota is a hotbed of girls' high school basketball. I doubt that the university will have trouble getting a good coach. A Lisa Fortier or Megan Duffy would probably have the Gophers in or near the NCAA Tournament within a couple of seasons. There is actually some talent on the team as is.

Utah is about to be upset by Washington State. The last 1 seed is back in play.
Even with that loss, Utah prob is the fourth #1. Md or LSU will likely be the first #2 With the other being the second #2. The fight for the 3rd #2 spot is between Iowa and VT/ND likely. If Iowa were to win the B1GT, they might move up ahead of Md/LSU for that 1st #2 spot….

I will be very curious to watch Indiana today against MSU, to see how they come back from their first loss since the last time they played the Spartans. I think they will come out on a mission.

Ky is playing loose and high energy in this tournament, you have to take that kind of team out of the game early before they stick around and gain confidence. Can’t let it be a close game in the 4th…..

LSU will need to be ready for UGA, they are playing good ball right now.

Maryland has already moved up on ESPN's Bracketology as the last 1 seed with Utah as the first 2 seed. And Tennessee is also in that bracket as a 5 seed. The Lady Vols should pray that they stay in that (relatively weak looking) bracket though obviously they will want to be a 4 seed or better. This is purely a speculative exercise because we are in the middle of tournament play and things are likely to take a few turns over the next three days. Still from yesterday's game, it is clear that the Utes go as Pili goes. Even the best teams can lay an egg, but not being able to beat a solid but unspectacular Washington State team has definitely disqualified Utah from the top line.

Maryland has a rather bad draw in the B1G Tournament. Illinois demolished Rutgers and their top three scorers (guards who are perimeter threats) had good to great games. The Terps will be tested today and if they win they likely get Iowa and then Indiana. Meanwhile the Hoosiers gets to take on a tired Michigan State team and Iowa gets a struggling Purdue. LSU has tough potential matchups as well in Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina, but unlike Maryland, LSU doesn't have to win out to get the final 1 seed.

I think Utah is out as the number one seed as they have no opportunity to win anymore. Maryland and LSU are still the main two competitors for the last number one seed. Right now I think Creme is right it is Maryland so the tournaments will decide if they stay there.
