NaLyssa Smith to Baylor... Wonder if that effects Aquira DeCosta...

I doubt DeCosta would go to Baylor? But she could go to South Carolina now that Smith went to Baylor???? Most thought she was headed to South Carolina

#2 player in the class of 2019, Leticia Amihere, dropped her top 14 today.

Full of the usual suspects except one glaring omission... Tennessee. Very surprising.

UCLA
Duke
South Carolina
UConn
Louisville
Maryland
Syracuse
Ohio State
Texas
Oklahoma
Kentucky
Notes Dame
Stanford
Michigan State

What's surprising is everybody thought Smith was a SC lock but Baylor it is... A lot of times it's hard to get those TX girls out of the state.

DeCosta visits UT on September 29. Can Holly convince her to not visit Baylor on the next weekend that she is scheduled to visit??? Since Smith has committed to go to Baylor!!! 🙏

Nobody thought Smith was an SC lock... did some of us think she liked SC a lot and thought there's a good chance she could end up in Columbia? Yes.. but a lock? No, it's never a lock... and for the exact same reason you mentioned, it's hard to get players out of Texas if you're not UConn.

DeCosta will probably go to Baylor too. Mulkey is loading up on talent. It's their year apparently.

Similar type players??? I don't see it! She could take Nareds place and start at UT!!!

I know Smith is listed as A Forward and DeCosta a wing but ... Williams took Baylor off her list and DeCosta and Williams have been linked to want to play together??? JMO

I know it's a twitter poll but close to half of the voters thought she was going to SC. I know it's not an exact science but yes more people thought she would go to SC than other schools. Just like many people think Williams is a UCONN lean because she has unofficially visited 2-3 times. Well she has done that TN as well. Evina Westbrook was considered a ND lean but came to TN. Shoot some of us thought with playing time Danielle Patterson was a lock for TN but went to ND. Again, I'm not saying you but others (even some that call themselves experts) thought she was a SC secret verbal commit. Maybe she had a change of heart at last minute who knows but one thing you said is correct there is never really a lock when it comes to recruiting. Even for UCONN it's not a lock these days.

I'm learning to stop underestimating Mulkey's recruiting prowess. This is the 3rd recruiting battle (that I can remember) of us losing to Baylor, Cara Ursin and Deuzya Richards were the other two. I understand the need to get into Texas.. but it might be time for Dawn and staff to really lock down the South and East Coast. Texas is a dogfight.

Id like to think Smith to Baylor would be good for the other schools recruiting DeCosta.. but again, who knows what hot air Mulkey is selling..

Amihere listed 14 schools, no TN. Sam Brunelle listed 10 schools. No TN. Disappointing.

It's not over till it's over. Some people think deeply, some go with a gut feel while others are spontaneous. Family plays a big part in commitments as do high school coaches. History, glitz and glamour is influential. Ultimately, I just prefer to wait and see since there is absolutely nothing that I can do to affect the outcome. I hope Tennessee gets who they want and who fits them the best. This year is important in that we will have to replace our two best players next year. I trust there is a plan and that plan will be successful.

There must be something in the water down there. She has eaten our lunch a few times too.

She definitely has a big persona. Could be appealing to a strong, competetive player. I see a lot of Pat in her, less class (sorry Baylor fans), but she can be very Pat-like. I like her.

Wish smith the best as she ventures off to play under the wicked witch of the west. No time for SC to dwell on her we really need to land DeCosta and get her away from Tenn, Baylor, and especially Louisville. I think the Cards are really in her ear for her signature. SC also needs ONO BADLY!! I think UCONN and Florida St are trying to make final pushes for her and get her in town for a visit. Dawn Staley and Co is going to really have to GRIND these next 2 months to land a great class.

Dawn just had a good class which usually means the following class isn't as great but I think the hard part is that she needs more bigs in the next class and good ones are always hard to find.

I agree. Grissett, Jackson and Williams are very good. SC doesn't essentially need a big class but a class with at least 2 or 3 elite players are needed. ONO should be the emphasis with DeCosta being the bow on top. I hope our staff can get it done.

Mulkey has a lot of fire in her and kids like that. I actually like watching her coach. She's very demanding.

U guys need to stay away from DeCosta lol. With Smith going to Baylor I can see SC selling DeCosta on playing time and a possible high-low offense with ONO. I'm still holding out hope we can add DeCosta, Williams and Carter (at minimum) to our 2018 class. 🍊🍊🍊

FSU currently has a 4-guard class for 2018 (a really good class btw) so they'll be pushing hard for a post player. They're in the final 4 for Queen Egbo.. a top 25 post player from Texas. With Smith going to Baylor, that may cause Baylor to ease up on Egbo (I doubt it), pushing Egbo to take a hard look at her other finalists.. Miss State, FSU and Texas. Right now, I'm rooting for Egbo to go to FSU... that'll wrap the seminoles up, pushing them out of the race for Nelson-Ododa. But FSU also has River Baldwin coming in 2019, so they're not necessarily desperate to land Nelson-Ododa.

I'm interested to see recruiting take off. It's been a slow trickle but I feel Smith's commitment will get things rolling. I expect Nelson-Ododa to release a top 5-7 soon... mid to late Fall probably.

I'm not expecting to land DeCosta. I don't even think she'll make it to SC for her official visit... but we'll see. I think we'll get Nelson-Ododa and wrap this class up with her and Henderson... two top 10 recruits. Go heavy for some wings in 2019. Again, We'll see.

SC summer has passed. Don't expect much. Your team lucked into the championship this year. No repeat. And uconn is not about to take this year for granted. Sorry to say, but I never believed SC would have beaten uconn.
Send ten thousand roses to Miss St, they did you a favor and twenty thousand to their point guard who got a last minute beater.
SC are chicken McNuggets this year. Too much player power gone.
Your post will feel the stingy post defenses of every SEC coach this season. You're the target. Lot of luck.

FSU just got a verbal from #12 2019 Sammie Puisis 6'2" Wing. To go along with River Baldwin 6'5" post... Starting to add some height to go with their four guards for 2018!!!

Lol "lucked" into a championship. SC will be fine! post and guard play ore going to be fine! Recruiting is going to be fine! Yes UCONN is going to be good this year but anything can happen as you seen this year. The question is is your team going to be FINE?!?! Stop being a hater and focus on making sure your team is FINE!! LOL

We're not one year wonders in the SEC. A lots of teams have something to prove but so do we. It starts in the SEC. Dawn will be looking to win her 5th straight regular season and fourth straight tourney SEC title. She has a good team to accomplish it. I believe they can get it done. Then we can worry about the NCAA tourney.
