Yes, he will probably cost us a 15 yard penalty in a big crucial game situation down the road, but as it has been said, he’s just too good not to be on the field. Maybe Rodney Garner can jerk a knot in his arse!

Anyone saying “he was protecting himself” lacks the ability to see anything without orange colored glasses on. You can even see in the replay he lunges himself forward to get more on it. Had that been Nico the same people saying “he had the right to protect himself!” Would be losing their minds and demanding the SEC suspend whoever did it to Nico.
Lunge is hard to do if you don’t move your feet. Again, this isn’t a gentlemen’s sport… he didn’t have to move, hug him or take the brunt. He stuck his arms out..he can’t be penalized for Vandagriff taking a fall.

I try my best not to pile on an individual player…but dude is out of control and has serious potential to cost us…

I’m floored that his “hand check” on van de Griff wasn’t 15yds…absolutely should have been and likely would have been against a team with more clout like Bama or UGA…just a downright stupid and unnecessary thing to do…

His 15yd face mask was completely unnecessary…wasn’t an accident at all…he did it to rip the guys helmet off…extended the drive which would bite us against UGA or in the playoffs…

Rewatch the game and notice what he did almost every time he got near the UK bench…ran at them like he was about to do something…just asking for some s*** to start which with his reputation is just as likely to be a flag on him as it is anyone that retaliates…

Again, I hate to pile on but dude is downright out of control…I understand it’s a violent game and you have to play with an edge but it has to have some level of control to it too…with our depth and talent at DL and his slightly above average talent level (i.e. not enough to warrant the risk) I don’t understand why he sees the field
he sees the field bc he gets **** done are we watching the same player? He might be over emotionalbut that’s an easy fix and I’d rather see that , then no effort at all.

Don’t forget the missed kick he had on the football after the play was dead. 100% would have been a 15 yard penalty. Could have cost us the game.

He can slow up all he wants, Lott can still protect himself. Lott was on the Tennessee sideline…he was not in the extended sideline of the 6 feet which would have changed the rule. Football isn’t a gentlemen’s sport, no reason to step aside.

Had he thrown and elbow to the head, launched a shoulder…sure. Hands up, play ball.
You can burry your head in the sand if you want…anyone that watches the game on a regular basis has seen substantially less than that flagged…and you’re kidding yourself if you think he was protecting himself…it was an attempt to sneak in a cheap shot and could have cost us 15 in a tight game…if he keeps up behavior like that and other stuff I’ve noted it will cost us

He’s above average but not great…we’ve got multiple players at the same position that are just as disruptive…those two things combined are more than enough reason to bench him for his behavior

And you can keep chirping it was deserving of a flag. We saw the same game, we watched the same play. Nothing warranted a flag on that play regardless what’s been called in the past. Falling down doesn’t equal flag. Again, had Lott stepped into the white it’s probably a different topic. But he didn’t, good no call.

Man so many soft individuals… that’s a nasty DT in a violent sport sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad… if you notice he doesn’t play as much as he should likely because of his increased likelihood to get a penalty but man is he a monster… again most of our favorite players from the past played on that line and sometimes crossed it… It’s hard to contain them beasts but I rather a ONL then a soft DT that don’t make plays and don’t commit penalties… we have enough depth to continue to limit his total plays and I do hope it doesn’t cost us in a tight game down the road… but it’s a risk I’m more than willing to take because of the plays that he makes…

I thought it definitely could have been flagged. Smarter thing is to move out of the way. I didn’t think it was too egregious. Heup talked the border rivalry up, some were playing with a little extra this game. ONL does some stupid stuff from time to time but he plays with a lot of intensity as well.

You say that from one game. What a loser comment.
But it’s not one game. He’s always in the middle of knuckle head plays and unnecessary penalties. Thank God he missed the ball when he tried to kick it in the Bama game. He needs to be smarter or it’s going to cost us a game.

I recently watched the 30 for 30 about Miami. Those dudes knew they would sometimes get penalties but did it anyway because they knew they were better.

Norman-Lott plays with an edge and attitude that can be costly but can boost a locker room as well. Personally, I think he's done more good than harm.

He's a guy no one wants to line up against

Rewatched the sideline "hit" and anyone who has ever watched Derrick Henry knows what a stiff arm from a bigger man can do.

If he bends his arms, shifts the contact by kind of ushering Vandagriff by him instead of a full on double stiff arm with a little power behind it, it's more TV friendly.

Penalty? No. Could he be more careful about keeping little guys out of his sideline space? Yeah. Will he always get away with that little extra "umph" in that collision? I doubt it and definitely not at the next level on a QB.

He has a position coach named Rodney Garner.I myself will just leave it up to him!
Can we agree we should leave it up to CRG while also agreeing he has an unreasonable number of boneheaded actions on the field that result in penalties and/or potential penalties that a red shirt senior should have under control at this point?

He needs to be more disciplined, but you don’t want him changing who he is. He’s a massive net positive for this football team.

The facemask was really frustrating, no doubt. The hands out on the sideline thing, he played that beautifully. ONL might be one of those guys who lets his own fire singe him a little from time to time, but is also sly as a fox.

Good DTs sometimes run a little hot. Haynesworth, Henderson, Thomas, ONL, all of those guys are different on the field vs off; different mentality. Albert actually might be a little crazy all the time 😂

I was thinking exactly the same as the opp. Why do you push the opposing QB down when you are standing on the sidelines watching. That's not Tennessee football.
