But it’s not one game. He’s always in the middle of knuckle head plays and unnecessary penalties. Thank God he missed the ball when he tried to kick it in the Bama game. He needs to be smarter or it’s going to cost us a game.
Y’all really think he intended to kick that ball and whiffed? This is a high level D1 athlete. You don’t think it’s more likely he was mocking the Bama player who got flagged for kicking the ball in their game against Vandy??

Correct, the guy can knock down Brock Vandagriff with two still hands, makes tackles on moving D1 QBs/RBS but somehow managed to miss a ball laying still.

No, I was being sarcastic. But I do feel he needs to be careful because one of his boneheaded moves may cost us.

I try my best not to pile on an individual player…but dude is out of control and has serious potential to cost us…

I’m floored that his “hand check” on van de Griff wasn’t 15yds…absolutely should have been and likely would have been against a team with more clout like Bama or UGA…just a downright stupid and unnecessary thing to do…

His 15yd face mask was completely unnecessary…wasn’t an accident at all…he did it to rip the guys helmet off…extended the drive which would bite us against UGA or in the playoffs…

Rewatch the game and notice what he did almost every time he got near the UK bench…ran at them like he was about to do something…just asking for some s*** to start which with his reputation is just as likely to be a flag on him as it is anyone that retaliates…

Again, I hate to pile on but dude is downright out of control…I understand it’s a violent game and you have to play with an edge but it has to have some level of control to it too…with our depth and talent at DL and his slightly above average talent level (i.e. not enough to warrant the risk) I don’t understand why he sees the field

To me, this is all on Heupel to fix…or not. What you allow will continue.

It was definitely overboard and it could have cost us against Alabama and Kentucky.

But it didn’t…

Now look at the positive- 13 tackles 2.5 sacks on a heavily rotated D-line.
He’s always pressing the QB. More so than any other DT. He’s a big part of our defense.

More frustrating to me is the number of times our DL line up in the neutral zone. Seems like we get called for it every game, and there were multiple times players had to adjust just before a snap to keep from being called again. That is elementary football that is defenseless at this level. I can accept ONL’s sideline “shot” on the QB, play was coming right at him at game speed. Lining up offside is just inexcusable.

Dude was slowing up…Lott put his hands out instead of up and clearly shoved when contact occurred…as far as protecting himself…just step to the side…it’s that simple…no risk of injury or penalty

I agree that it wasn’t much but we’ve all seen WAY less than that called for 15…it can and will cost us if it’s allowed to continue
But it didn't cost us so...
What if-ism is dumb and pointless

Damn fellas…. Why don’t you all pile on brother?
You know a dog is never the same after you cut his nuts off
You have to make peace with some people like college football for the concessions and pompoms.

You want a talented defensive tackle? I give you Albert Haynesworth, Ndamukong Suh, and Jalen Carter.

His unnecessary facemask penalty after sacking the QB on 4th down with 3:44 left in the game cost us an easy touchdown that would have ended the game. Dude literally pulled the QB's helmet off for no reason.

Oddly, if your account is right, it was poorly officiated. As described, it should have been a dead ball personal foul with UT having the ball 15 yards back. If the face mask was not grasped and the head twisted to make the tackle. Rule requires both. Clearly both happened after the play.

Say what you want, but he is always a moment away from a personal foul penalty. And a personal foul penalty never helps a team.

At this point his IQ is coming into question. That shove on the sidelines should have been a 15 yard Unsportsmanlike. The crap He does (consistently) will eventually cost Tennessee a game, and has already given the Dline a bad look. "They play dirty" is the commentary. Let's not accept being referenced like the 1990's Miami Hurricanes.

I had no issue with what occurred with the Kentucky player on the sidelines where Norman Lott was where he was supposed to be and doing nothing wrong. He plays with some flare and sometimes I think he could tone it down a bit because it can be a detriment, but there was nothing wrong with what happened on that sideline play.

You cannot be serious.

Did you see Tony Vitello catch the football and run on the sidelines? That could have cost us an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

He needs to be reprimanded before it costs us! Let’s all complain about something that didn’t effect the game’s outcome, today.

Many of you attacked Omari Thomas in the same way after the Arkansas game. Nothing came of it besides a bunch of arguing here. Yet he still hasn’t hurt anyone or done anything illegal. The same goes for Norman Lott. You just aren’t doing anything meaningful with your energy. You’re just slandering one of your own for no good reason.

This is my compromise to both sides:
We can agree that some of the roughness was questionable. We should also agree that the torches and pitchforks are uncalled for. Stop trying to “over the top” one another to get taken seriously. It has the opposite effect that you’re going for on at least half of us.

Would be nice to see Heupel stop the post play individual celebrations, this is the SEC, act like you have been there before, at this level, with this program, in this conference, excellent play is expected, not optional, but everybody wants to make an ESPN highlight, but the hardest lick came from the Kentucky linebacker that jarred our tightend's preserves, resulting in a dropped ball in the end zone,
What's with the wiping snot off your nose and slinging it celebratory move everyone is doing now... slinging snot is kind of off putting.

I want ONL on my team all day everyday!! You pray for rain you gotta deal with the mud. This sport is violent, and players are emotional. Some players are on that line the whole game, sometimes they cross it. I am a HUGE ONL fan and you should be too...He loves cats and the fans. This dude gave up celebrating the BAMA win his teammates to stay on the field to snap photos with every fan that wanted a photo.
