The sideline thing was a flop. I can excuse that and think it was severely overblown. The ripping the helmet off penalty should have been a one way trip to the locker room yesterday. That gave UK a chance to stay in the game. The game was over and then the flag gave them life. It was unnecessary and classless. He is hurting himself at this point. PFF can say he is a first round player all they want: I agree that his production warrants that evaluation. He is an unbelievable player. He just does not play smart sometimes. Hopefully he learns from it. I love him as a player. He doesnā€™t back down. We need someone who is never scared.

Anyone saying ā€œhe was protecting himselfā€ lacks the ability to see anything without orange colored glasses on. You can even see in the replay he lunges himself forward to get more on it. Had that been Nico the same people saying ā€œhe had the right to protect himself!ā€ Would be losing their minds and demanding the SEC suspend whoever did it to Nico.
I thought it should have been flagged too, but the best thing to come out of this are the butthurt reactions by KY fans. šŸ¤£

Man so many soft individualsā€¦ thatā€™s a nasty DT in a violent sport sometimes you gotta take the good with the badā€¦ if you notice he doesnā€™t play as much as he should likely because of his increased likelihood to get a penalty but man is he a monsterā€¦ again most of our favorite players from the past played on that line and sometimes crossed itā€¦ Itā€™s hard to contain them beasts but I rather a ONL then a soft DT that donā€™t make plays and donā€™t commit penaltiesā€¦ we have enough depth to continue to limit his total plays and I do hope it doesnā€™t cost us in a tight game down the roadā€¦ but itā€™s a risk Iā€™m more than willing to take because of the plays that he makesā€¦
I havenā€™t checked the snap counts but I try to keep an eye on the rotation during the game as much as possibleā€¦it definitely seems like heā€™s playing lessā€¦Iā€™m willing to bet itā€™s a combination of his behavior and the play of Eason, Hobbs, Thomas, etc.

He can slow up all he wants, Lott can still protect himself. Lott was on the Tennessee sidelineā€¦he was not in the extended sideline of the 6 feet which would have changed the rule. Football isnā€™t a gentlemenā€™s sport, no reason to step aside.

Had he thrown an elbow to the head, launched a shoulderā€¦sure. Hands up, play ball.
The dude wasnā€™t protecting himself. He was showing off and being an ass. He clearly extended his hands out to land a hit

Whoā€™s disputing that he didnā€™t extend his hands? How much further does Lott need to be off the field of play? He was six feet off the field. Lott doesnā€™t want Vandagriff running into him anymore than Brock wanted hands put up to stop him. No rules say he has to catch him, move or backup. Good no call, play ball.

We arenā€™t going to agree, obviously.

It was a stupid move. Easily called a 15 any other time.

Undisciplined team, just look at the avg penalties per game, and most are bone head penalties.

Yep we have too many top tier DL so he does not have to play but we always give him a few drives and he almost always flashesā€¦ you know RG is on him tough but I like my DL a little mean hope we he can limit the penalties but I want him to play his game.

I noticed of Kentucky's last TD drive a lot guys on defense were playing very cocky. On that 3rd and long inside the 20 they were all too busy celebrating the previous play and Kentucky easily converted and then proceeded to march down the field and score

Jeremy Banks 2.0. A loose cannon.

Talented, and a great player, but he needs to use his head for something other than a hat rack.
He's better than Jeremy Banks. With a player of his caliber, you take the good with the bad. Our defense is good enough to overcome mistakes

Is he over the top? Yeah probably. But he's the kind of guy you want on your side in a fight. I'd take him as my teammate any day of the week. We can only hope he doesn't get flagged but he cannot be contained.

I didn't think it was as bad as it looked. He barely made contact with him and Vandagriff just fell down. He still put himself in position to get flagged by sticking his arms out, but it didn't look like so over aggressive act.

The face mask was more unfortunate. I think he knew he the refs saw it and was more upset that he got caught then anything. Obviously not a good play, but I doubt it was intentional. Just made a mistake.

Agree on both. The fact that Vandagriff didn't even react, just got up and ran back to the huddle, and no Kentucky players seemed to react at all pretty much makes it a non-issue. Still shouldn't have done it, but the announcers made more of it than anything.

The face mask was so unnecessary, as the sack was already completed. Looked kind of like he got his hand caught in the face mask and jerked the helmet off trying to remove it.

Norman-Lott also jumped offside when Kentucky was pinned deep, and got away with it when they called a false start. He looked like he knew he was guilty, but we caught a break.

Would be nice to see Heupel stop the post play individual celebrations, this is the SEC, act like you have been there before, at this level, with this program, in this conference, excellent play is expected, not optional, but everybody wants to make an ESPN highlight, but the hardest lick came from the Kentucky linebacker that jarred our tightend's preserves, resulting in a dropped ball in the end zone,
Heupel has been about his guys having fun since day 1. If theyā€™re not having fun, football wonā€™t be fun and then you have a Derek Dooley looking program. I am of the mindsetā€¦ have fun, but be smart about it (donā€™t cost your team yards).
