I thought it should have been flagged too, but the best thing to come out of this are the butthurt reactions by KY fans.Anyone saying āhe was protecting himselfā lacks the ability to see anything without orange colored glasses on. You can even see in the replay he lunges himself forward to get more on it. Had that been Nico the same people saying āhe had the right to protect himself!ā Would be losing their minds and demanding the SEC suspend whoever did it to Nico.
I havenāt checked the snap counts but I try to keep an eye on the rotation during the game as much as possibleā¦it definitely seems like heās playing lessā¦Iām willing to bet itās a combination of his behavior and the play of Eason, Hobbs, Thomas, etc.Man so many soft individualsā¦ thatās a nasty DT in a violent sport sometimes you gotta take the good with the badā¦ if you notice he doesnāt play as much as he should likely because of his increased likelihood to get a penalty but man is he a monsterā¦ again most of our favorite players from the past played on that line and sometimes crossed itā¦ Itās hard to contain them beasts but I rather a ONL then a soft DT that donāt make plays and donāt commit penaltiesā¦ we have enough depth to continue to limit his total plays and I do hope it doesnāt cost us in a tight game down the roadā¦ but itās a risk Iām more than willing to take because of the plays that he makesā¦
The dude wasnāt protecting himself. He was showing off and being an ass. He clearly extended his hands out to land a hitHe can slow up all he wants, Lott can still protect himself. Lott was on the Tennessee sidelineā¦he was not in the extended sideline of the 6 feet which would have changed the rule. Football isnāt a gentlemenās sport, no reason to step aside.
Had he thrown an elbow to the head, launched a shoulderā¦sure. Hands up, play ball.
Whoās disputing that he didnāt extend his hands? How much further does Lott need to be off the field of play? He was six feet off the field. Lott doesnāt want Vandagriff running into him anymore than Brock wanted hands put up to stop him. No rules say he has to catch him, move or backup. Good no call, play ball. The dude wasnāt protecting himself. He was showing off and being an ass. He clearly extended his hands out to land a hit
We arenāt going to agree, obviously.Whoās disputing that he didnāt extend his hands? How much further does Lott need to be off the field of play? He was six feet off the field. Yep we have too many top tier DL so he does not have to play but we always give him a few drives and he almost always flashesā¦ you know RG is on him tough but I like my DL a little mean hope we he can limit the penalties but I want him to play his game.I havenāt checked the snap counts but I try to keep an eye on the rotation during the game as much as possibleā¦it definitely seems like heās playing lessā¦Iām willing to bet itās a combination of his behavior and the play of Eason, Hobbs, Thomas, etc.
I didn't think it was as bad as it looked. He barely made contact with him and Vandagriff just fell down. He still put himself in position to get flagged by sticking his arms out, but it didn't look like so over aggressive act.
The face mask was more unfortunate. I think he knew he the refs saw it and was more upset that he got caught then anything. Obviously not a good play, but I doubt it was intentional. Just made a mistake.
Heupel has been about his guys having fun since day 1. If theyāre not having fun, football wonāt be fun and then you have a Derek Dooley looking program. I am of the mindsetā¦ have fun, but be smart about it (donāt cost your team yards).Would be nice to see Heupel stop the post play individual celebrations, this is the SEC, act like you have been there before, at this level, with this program, in this conference, excellent play is expected, not optional, but everybody wants to make an ESPN highlight, but the hardest lick came from the Kentucky linebacker that jarred our tightend's preserves, resulting in a dropped ball in the end zone,
