'25 Northwestern Transfer OL Josh Thompson (LSU)

Incorrect, I stated we do not spend like the Mets or Dodgers but we really are the Mets results wise not spending wise
We spend a bunch. Maybe not on the level of a few other schools. But there is some strategy involved than just being the highest bidder. People around here I’m sure are careful with their money but complain when a business or program doesn’t wildly spend- lol.

The issue seems to be we aren’t willing to overpay for anyone and I’m not saying I disagree with it in an ideal world but sometimes you have to if you truly want to compete. It’s possible to not overpay and compete if you run an extremely disciplined program but we don’t so it is concerning but not the end of the world
We are paying for QB, off tackles, edge rushers. We are paying for some good young WR and playmakers. We paid for a top CB last year, I’m sure we are taking care of Gibson to keep him, and have good young guys there with potential. We are obviously paying for some young LBs. We have some holes in the roster like S.

We are not OVER PAYING for positions like OG or for every shiny object that enters the portal.

I know AP says that Tennessee likes their current OL room but based on the evidence of the last few years it is very hard to believe that
It’s hard to believe they like the young guys who have been developing, in a developmental position, waiting their turn? Y’all know in college football before NIL and transfers, the roster turned over year to year and there have always been guys in rosters developing and getting ready to play. That is the way it’s supposed to work, not insta-fix like y’all seem to think is best

Which HS player has Glen developed in his half a decade here?

Truth hurts? I'm seeing other programs spending whatever it takes to acquire talent while we sit on our butt doing nothing.
We have to turn some people over man. Also, have to secure our current roster. We did just make the playoffs.

Not having 105 schollie limit hurts. At 83 I believe. Barn, Piss, and Geightors havent done this for 4 years straight.

The Thompson deal felt like a loss bc of what we lost, and how young we will be. Still need an OG. But def need help at WR, and RB.

Strategy of acquiring a lot of portal superstars worked for FSU this year huh. And Ole Miss, who didn’t make the playoffs. And LSU next year when they don’t make the playoffs.

I'm seeing a very similar situation to last year at this time. Several depth players and players from and underwhelming position group heading to the portal and the same group of posters having the same type of meltdown about our perceived lack of portal participation while other programs are out buying players left and right. Very similar comments about the state of our program and how we are not serious about being a championship contender. When the smoke cleared, we signed two solid TEs, an All SEC CB, improved our quality of secondary depth and made the playoffs.

Yep, LSU is losing both OTs to the NFL so they are more desperate and willing to spend above par for this position. Been nice to have gotten him but I can see why he selected LSU.
