'25 Northwestern Transfer OL Josh Thompson (LSU)

Some of y’all are wild. There is no EASY button. It’s hard to win, it’s REALLY hard to drag a program out of the dumpster. We are way ahead of where I thought we would be at this point. Do we have things we need to address/fix to take that last step to be elite? Yes. But we are getting there. It wasn’t something that could be completely fixed overnight.

Going from really good to great is the most difficult step. Excited to see how Heup does

According to KingVFL he didn’t have an impact. It was mostly spyre and other coaches. Elarbee is garbage. Boring personality and doesn’t vibe with the kids. Throw in record amounts of penalties and Kirby smart stuffing him into a locker every year and you get your results
Ok. So one source. Not multiple insiders. Just curious.

I have no doubt he may not have the charisma. But we’ve rushed for 2800+ yards in 4 straight years. I’m not totally out on him. Heard and Campbell were hurt early in the year, and the line got better. His history was good at multiple stops. People just don’t acknowledge the positive when their mind is made up. We need to improve in multiple areas.

Yea, I wasn’t going to respond, but 2 of those programs have been elite for years. Oregon plays in the Pac/Big 10.

I know OSU is great but our senior laden OL for the most part couldn’t block 4 with 5 or 6. Not acceptable.

Totally agree. I was dejected by our showing Saturday but I still think we are on the right track. If we are or if we aren’t, it will play out in the next couple years. I’m not borrowing trouble and pre-worrying about portal and next years team in December when everything is still up in the air. Same thing happened last year. Everybody was freaking out about the portal but when the dust settles we had a really good portal class

We gave up the run too early even without Dylan. Nico gets antsy when the OL has a play or two with poor blocking. Sawyer, their DE, was a high level recruit. It’s a bunch of variables. Sampson had 101 against UGA but we did have 5 sacks. Play-calling can help, too. Roll out Nico, which they did some earlier in the year when Nico was struggling. It’s not just the OL.

We need to add 10% to the ticket prices.

I HATE NIL
This and every time we get a big win, they come out with it’s time to renew and an increase. Market demands it but I’ve scaled back my giving and seats. Part of it is the economy making it tougher on my company and the other is feeling like the keep hitting us for more. The guys in the AD are absolutely terrific and understanding but the talent fee about made me sick. But it’s fun as heck but when you do this the way they have, you better win. So far they have.

Danny might need to add 33% at this rate
I know you're joking but the coaches and ADs need a pay cut before they add more costs/charges on the fans.

Will West was talking about it today on 99.1, if I understood him right, he said that the highest paid college coaches are getting around 10% of their university's profit. To compare, he said the Pittsburgh HC Mike Tomlin was making 2% of the Steelers profits. College coaches' salaries are not sustainable, especially when you add in paying coaches in other sports and their players too.

Greedy people

The Steelers profit is around $550 million a year. The Vols is $75 million big discrepancy in those 2 numbers. But I get it these coaches are making big money in college these days..

I get it, but head coaches are the reason why programs are successful. AD’s are the ones who agree to the contracts. Heupel wouldn’t be paid as much as he is if he weren’t 30-9 in 3 seasons. The last 3 seasons have made UT a whole bunch of money in ticket sales, concessions, and merchandise.

The NFL literally has multi-billion dollar tv deals- they make much more than college programs. The Steelers had $595 million in revenue last year.

I didn't realize NFL teams made that much money. (I didn't hear Will's whole segment). That's unreal.

It's unbelievable how much money is in pro sports.
