'25 Northwestern Transfer OL Josh Thompson (LSU)

You said Arkansas would be an easy win. You said the UGA game was the game where we turn it all around and prove to the college football world we are the best. You said we would win out.

You said the 2016 team was the most talented TN team. You said Dobbs was one of the best QBs in TN history. Then you trashed him and the 2016 team saying they were garbage. You are the textbook definition of bipolar.

Wow. I guess I'm not infallible. How about you also include the fact I said we would go 10-2 in 2022 before the season. Or this year when I said despite the loss to Arkansas we would beat Florida and Alabama. Yes I've been wrong many times before. And I'll be wrong again in the future. But that doesn't mean I've never been right.

Feels like things are going in a different direction for Northwestern transfer Josh Thompson . Tennessee was set to land him at noon on Christmas Eve but that’s when the phone rang and schools not landing him threw some wild numbers at him.
Tennessee’s been more than competitive in this one but one school decided to toss out the yellow Monopoly money and it caused Thompson to pause. As of Thursday night, he was still talking to Tennessee so there is still some light left in this recruitment.

FTR, I'm not about breaking the bank for this kid. IF Elarbee has done his job, we should be okay. Or, we could find another OL in the portal to target who is comparable to this kid. I just want a better understanding for when we target someone we really, really want. Are we truly offering fair market value? Or will there always be a school that can outspend us?
Yep. If someone decides to get stupid with money for a transfer, let 'em. I look at every portal jumper with skepticism. They're jumping ship for a reason. And if the OL is another disaster this year, maybe it will finally force Heupel to do something about dead weight on this staff.

The other teams didn't want him until we did. Maybe he should go to the dance with who asked first. 🤷🏾‍♂️
If they're following our lead on OL evals, heaven help them. Or maybe Heupel is on some covert mission to get teams to overspend on iffy players so they can't compete against us elsewhere? Heupels genius has no limits dontcha know?

Love Volnation

First sentence lost because of money, last sentence blame the OL coach.

Ok. So one source. Not multiple insiders. Just curious.

I have no doubt he may not have the charisma. But we’ve rushed for 2800+ yards in 4 straight years. I’m not totally out on him. Heard and Campbell were hurt early in the year, and the line got better. His history was good at multiple stops. People just don’t acknowledge the positive when their mind is made up. We need to improve in multiple areas.

Are we playing the “insider” game again? Lol it never fails

I'm not sure how anyone could watch Lance Heard and Keric play and be absolutely convinced a lineman from the portal is worth "whatever it takes".

I'm just saying this pro ball now. We have a payroll and there is a finite amount of money to spend. At some point we are going to have to play guys we recruit at the position.

Don't put words in my mouth cause you caught feelings. I said my posts get most of your attention. Not that I'm seeking attention. I've never posted something I don't believe in just to get attention. It just so happens yall are glued to everything I say more than other posters. Hence why yall think I'm the one freaking out about the Ohio State loss when I've been very restrained. If I was seeking attention as you claim wouldn't I be calling for Nico to be replaced or coaches to be fired like others? Instead all I've done is say we need to start recruiting better and that starts with opening up the check book.

Once again don't blame me cause yall love giving my posts so much attention.
Repeat the circle dating back WAY too long. 😴 Needed to point it out one last time for personal closure.

The Ohio State guy has us dropping and The bucknuts trending.Pete Nakos has LSU and Auburn ahead.
wow, with what I am reading on here, other schools are ponying up big money... several schools ponying up big money for a lot of different kids... It's looking more and more (or seems like) like either our NIL collective is mid at best or actually sucks, or we are going with being cheap, holding onto our funds, and continuing to try to do more with less... which clearly isn't working out for us...

How do these other schools seem to have so much more money to spend and throw around compared to us? Think about how much money ohst must be spending to keep their roster happy and then they are going out and outbidding us in places... I see AL, AU, LSU, Ole Miss, TX, and TAMU seeming to have endless funds, and that's just in the SEC...Crazy.

We may indeed be looking at just being a 8-10 win season and a bowl team for a while at this rate...

Karic was really good this year. I think Heard is gonna be really good next year but he struggled pretty badly (expected for a SO).

May have already been posted on here, i only read the last couple pages...but Hubbs said this morning on air that LSU came in late when the predictions came out for him to UT and offered him big money. Said as of right now, it looks like LSU. If its meant to be, i trust that the staff will make it happen somehow. If not, we will make it happen next year one way or another.

Personally, i think next season is a 9-3 year either way. Heres a question for you folks: better to go broke and 2nd mortgage every dollar they can beg and squeeze out of our donors for next season when we have little chance of a title of any kind due to so much (very) talented youth on defense on the Dline and at LB, on the Oline at likely Center and freshman Tackle in Sanders etc....OR to get what we can from the portal, players with at least 2 years eligibility left, develop our young players next season and go ALL in on 2026 to make a Championship run?

Theres no safe play either way. Ole Miss spent like drunken sailors in 24 to go to a bowlgame. We clearly dont have the $22MIllion every year that OSU etc have though. We are at $15 to $16M for 2024 according to Hubbs. Better to go for broke every OTHER year than to hope to beat teams every season with 25% more spent on their talent?

TX and A/M pretty much have unlimited funds. If they can buy a NC trophy they will, and brag about it the whole time.
