'25 Northwestern Transfer OL Josh Thompson

"Obviously, I've got to get back to family and talk about it," he said. "But, like I said, I was really impressed with what I saw today. I loved it. I love what they have going on here, and obviously they're a great culture. They have a lot of really good things going for them in the future, so it was awesome." -247

I like that he says he didn't feel pressured at all and it wasn't a sales pitch. He said it was more like a feeling-out process where both sides just wanted to see if there was a fit. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I have thought for awhile this is one of the guys we targeted early (With a big NIL investment) on the O-line.

Oh noooooo. Our coaching staff has a different opinion on a player than I do. What ever will I do.

It’s like…NFL general managers have different opinions on players too. But don’t worry. You are here…not to offer informed opinions or detailed analysis…..but to be in a safe space and offer nothing at all.
So you’re comparing yourself to a NFL general manager?

Curious as to if we take him and Moe if he wanted in as well
I actually wonder if we are looking at him as a guard a tackle or somebody who is versatile enough to play both. He graded out as one of the top guards in the Big Ten this past year. It’s why I liked his game better than Moe. He just seemed like he moved better.

Interesting… doesn’t make sense why we would pay a lot of money for him if we already have our starting 5 for next year

LT Heard
LG Karic
C Satterwhite
RG Moe
RT Sanders
With Karic back:

LT: Heard
LG: Karic
C: Satterwhite
RG: Moe
RT: Thompson

Without Karic:

LT: Heard
LG: Moe
C: Satterwhite
RG: Thompson
RT: Sanders

Thompson can play both spots and I’d imagine if he does come here and Karic comes back, he’s at the RT spot over a young guy.

Callahan talked about on the 247 pod this afternoon after the Moe commitment that Moe may view his future at Center…so it sounds like if Satterwhite isn’t where we want him to be by the fall, we COULD possibly slide Moe over.

I think not playing Sanders next year is a terrible idea TBH

Why?

He can redshirt and then start the following year as a RS Fr once Thompson is gone. That’s if Thompson is even our RT.
In this age of college football you need to keep your highly rated recruits on the field or they will leave

Mike Matthews got limited snaps and ain’t leaving.

Nico redshirted and didn’t leave.

Jordan Ross basically only plays ST and haven’t heard of him leaving.

Braylon Staley still here.

Bennett Warren still here.
