Sure doesn't make you feel very good about going into next weeks game facing Number 1. I hope we don't have to play both the Elephants and the Zebras. It will be tough enough without the elephants getting help from the Zebras.

The #1 v #2 thing is ominous for our trip to Tuscaloosa next weekend... wonder if we'll get jobbed too.

The officials had the yips and I think one or two of them must have slipped them to Mallet as well. He had several opportunities to bury the Gators.

I went to the see the boxscore on ESPN, but the names of the officiating crew were not listed in the boxscore.

Where can I go to get the names of the officiating crews for these games?

But a feeling: That Florida-Arkansas game upset me yesterday.

It's been a loooong time since I've been able to sit back and enjoy a game like a fan.

But the Razorbacks' effort and determination was playing out right before me.

Even though Florida was considerably more talented, the Hogs played one of the best football games I've seen in a while.

So to watch that game getting taken away from them by some horrendous calls -- and non-calls -- in the final minutes was sick.

Kudos to Gary Danielson for calling those officials out, and shame on ESPN for not following up on it during their post-game show.

Anyone who watched that game saw what happened; it was similar to Greg Oden shoving a guy down at the end of an NCAA game with Xavier and not getting called for a flagrant foul.

Tim Tebow doesn't need the help of officials to compete for a Heisman or national title.

But that's what happened Saturday in Gainesville, and it was obvious, and it was wrong.

Griff, you are right on the mark. It is your job to police the game. You really need to do a write up on the poor officiating in the SEC this year. Use your position to call these guys and the league out. The bad press the NBA officials has been getting has caused them to evaluate their officials differently.

I hope Bama lays the wood to Pretty Boy and his team of thugs.

Tebow jumps up after a first down, waves his arms around and hits his helmet. It is his heisman campaign pitch. He knows the cameras will be on him and obviously tries to draw more attention to himself. Obvious flag. I don't care how many babies he has delivered. A penatly should be called. On that famous drive with the two bad calls, it is almost as Meyer got the officials ear and said "we are losing in the 4th quanter and Tebow is not good enough to win. Do something NOW!"

The lineman was Malcolm Sheppard and the call was not for the hit but the fact that he pumped his fist and shouted at the player on the ground. It was seen as taunting. I dont like the rule but it is the rule. Did you see how the Florida kicker made his team stop celebrating to avoid a call? NCAA football is becoming the No Fun League jr.

That may be what the SEC is saying was called today, but the ref said the call was a personal foul not an unsportmanlike conduct penalty nor did he call it taunting at the time. Besides there was one ref not 3 ft from the arky player as he pumped his fist and if anything was shouted, then he would have heard it and not the ref that is not even in picture that actually threw the flag.
the only pass that i will give the ref that called it was that from the angle of where the flag came from, it could have looked like the Arky player kicked at the fla guy(which he didn't) as he walked past.
this call by itself, while pretty bad, takes a whole new meaning in light of the other calls( PI, OPI non call, bad spots, tebow antics, cooper pushoffs non calls, etc, etc) particularly late in the game when the gators needed to score and keep in the NC hunt.

Unfortunately, bad calls are part of the game. The Alabama-Penn St bad call of 1983 still irks me.

Alabama scored the winning touchdown on the last play of the game only to have an official rule the receiver was out of bounds. Replays show he was not. A member of the officiating crew happened to have a son playing for Penn State.

I was at Beaver Stadium for that one! I was a frosh at PSU and still have a swatch of turf from that endzone when we students rushed the field at the end of the game. It was a good thing that instant replay was not in effect, yet.

I was rooting for Arky as hard as I was UT. And those calls for a QB that has so much fame was horrible. UF got outplayed yesterday and needed bogus homer calls to pull it out, but Tejada missed 2 chippys. UF will not be a natl champion. I believe Texas and Bama are better IMO. UF's program will remain in good shape but their team is not going to be as productive the next 5 years or so. CUM better go to South Bend when his son leave after this year.

At least once in the game yesterday two UF defenders did that stupid clap thing while standing over the player that had just been tackled. They should get a flag every time they do that on the field.

Yesterday proved what a lot of people started to realize after we played UF and basically shut them down as far as big plays go...... UF is NOT the best team in the country. Most talented? Probably. Best D in the country? Nope. I would say they have the best secondary in football.....but it isnt the best unit overall. Their offense, against like talented teams, is average at best. People can say it has a lot to do with not having Percy Harvin any longer, and that certainly factors into it.....but I think it has more to do with defensive coordinators catching up to it, and learning what needs to be done to hold their version of the "spread" down. Monte put the blue print out there and every good team they have played since then has built upon it. That is the ONLY tangible reason for a defense the caliber of Arkansas' (which has gotten ran over, around and through by every team they have played this year....except UF) being able to do what it did against UF. There is a reason the "spread option" type offenses dont last in the NFL. CUM can use all the excuses he wants to, like that he is being conservative because of the caliber of his defense or any other BS.....the truth is that DC's are catching up. Without Tebow at QB this year, they have 3 losses right now. I look forward to their collision with Bama. I dont think UF scores more than 14 against them if Bama doesnt suffer a bunch of injuries between now and then.

I've seen calls and non-calls that have bothered me this year.
We always see them, but this may be the most inconsistent year I ever remember.

Some refs must have learned at the YMCA.

Don't play too rough and we're not going to keep score.
We don't want anyone to get their feelings hurt if they lose.

Griff, the role of the media is to be a watch-dog regardless of what field you cover. I don't need to tell you this because I'm sure it's one of the things ingrained in you from early on in college.

With that being said, you should use your forum and call the refs out. It really seems like any team that plays FLA/AL gets jobbed on at least a few calls a game.

I've got to say, we've had some calls go against us in a game, but those at the end of that game were some of the most awful of all time. The one against the lineman, how do you explain that? One idiotic Florida fan said it was something he did after the play. Bologna! ON tv, they showed the flag being thrown the second the arkansas lineman hit him. THe sec better come up with something on that one. The one nobody talks about is on the winning drive for Florida, Tebow throws it into the endzone and the only player there is the arkansas db. as he gets ready to make the pick, cooper, the florida wide receiver just rapes the arkansas db where he can't catch it. What was that? no offensive foul for that? It's clear the sec wants Florida to win another title.

It looked like business as usual to me when it comes to SEC officials ....why can't we get some half way competent officials in this league
It is preety darn bad when the SEC has to come out on multiple occaisions to say the refs blew calls that cost ball games. It makes a mockery of the game when the refs, instead of the players, have the ultimate impact on a game. Sickening

i don't get that with tebow. As ticky-tacky as they've been with that call, tebow goes apes*** for a full 30 seconds because of a measly 1st down run! And he's done it his entire career. It makes him look like a clown, but more importantly you have to flag that if you are going to flag aj green for looking into the crowd and charles scott for raising two hands in the air for a full 3 seconds. It's embarrassing to me how bad the sec refs have gotten.
