Not sure we are a top 10 team.

Show us a clip of a WR downfield on that play. It’s always Joe’s fault!!

Then he should have turned up field and got a first down, it was 3ed and 8 the penalty was not going to get an automatic first down. I really like him but his football Iq is not great.

I would caution everyone calling this a transition year. Just because Nico takes over next year does not mean we're as successful or more successful next year. I think we should all enjoy this season, even if its an 8/9 win year.

We lose 8 starters from the offense next year, of which 4 are on the O-line.. If Jaylen Wright declares for the NFL, we lose 9 starters next year.

We lose 9 starters from the defense next year. The entire secondary, our best LBs and very important aspects of the DL.

We're talking about 17-18 starters gone that will need to be replaced from a 8/9 win team. Recruiting has been okay but pump the breaks on the next year talk and enjoy the ride this year. Next year is not a guarantee.

If you’re worried about getting hurt you’re going to get hurt. Joe crushed a guy later in the game on a run.

And there was nothing “smart” about that play. If you’re scared of contact or being injured from hitting a smaller db or LBer why pull down the ball and run at all? He knew it was a free play, throw it down field and let your guys try to make a play.
Says the person sitting on the sidelines.

It was posted on the Twitter, that in 1998, TM threw for 2064, 19 TDs and 6 ints. So far this year, JM has thrown for 1264 with 10 TDs and 4 ints. Ideally, we just need Milton to be a game manager. Don't force things and take what is there. Every other part of our team is good to elite.

Until we can get the passing game going we are a 9-3ish team or top 25, but not top 10. I rewatched the game and there were 4 plays where if there weren't drops or if the refs actually called PI the game would be a 14 to 20 point blowout. Joe misses some plays, but there were also 4 very catchable balls that were dropped or where there was a blatant PI that wasn't called. Make those plays and we can make a case for top 10.
Agree. The offense is in a see-saw of trust problems. No one has been dependable. When Nimrod looks like your highlight reel passing, something is broken. Not knocking chase at all. Receivers have failed Joe; Joe has failed them, and all of that has caused Heupel to call bad plays too, which benefits none of them.

We know that Joe has the skills and has won big games...see bowl win over Clemson. I am thinking the problem has more to do with change in OCs and WRs including losing Bru. The line has had issues earlier and now we are in a penalty funk. If we can play complete games where Milton/OC/passing game clicks and we avoid shooting ourselves in the foot while maintaining an improving D....we will get into the top ten. A lot of big ifs. Hope rings eternal on the Vol Nation Forum.
Look at the drop off in the WR's that we have this year. Bru only starter returning is out. Keyton is inconsistent. Squirrel is good, but has disappeared on Saturday's sometimes this season. Leacock isn't ready. Webb gets a few snaps. After those, we are down to Jack Janek. We got spoiled with Hyatt and Tillman because we also had Bru.

You talking about the pass where PI was not called?
No that was not on Joe. I am talking about their D jumped off-sides. That is usually an automatic deep pass due to the offsides. So what if they intercept the pass? The ball is coming back due to the off-sides.
I don't believe the refs have thrown but one flag all year for PI and there have been several times it should have been called.

We still have the chance to be. Just win, don’t care how ugly it is for the rest of the season.

I honestly think we can be top 5 in all three categories. Alabama game could be that game.

This is a transition year - I’m fine with where we are

Make a good bowl and move on to the Nico era

Transition years for the past 15 years usually meant we were 2-4 at this point, the team has quit, and the head coach was about to be fired. Again, Im good with where we are

So nice to read common sense posts like this one.

This team is a completely different beast than last year, and I think CJH is coming around to the idea that he can't coach to win 52-49 games, but for more close to the vest type games like A&M. Maybe slow the pace more often, and run stuff that Joe is more comfortable with, but it would help immeasurably if the WR's would hold on to the damn ball.

I wish everyone would stop with the Nico stuff. This isn't a video game where you just plug in anyone and they perform. Joe is the team leader, you're f***king with team chemistry if you pull him while this group is winning, and we've seen the results of a fractured team last year at SC. And that is beside the risk of losing a kid who is your future by throwing him into the fire unprepared for this level of intensity.

People thinking it's like a video game... that's exactly the right way to put it. You can't just change everything around all the time and think it'll all just work.

And those who say otherwise need to ask themselves would any of these WR's start at any other top tier SEC school?

I am not a Joe apologist and admit he has been inconsistent at best but this WR group hasn't helped him at all. Those balls these guys are dropping are expected to be catches for schools that are competing for championships. Does anyone actually think that every ball a QB throws is perfectly placed?

Could be another 11-2 year with a good QB.
