Not too early....Utah State article

Now for the scary part, secondary. WE had our starting corner and starting safety from last year drafted into the NFL. We only return one major contributor at strong safety in Brian Suite. I fully expect him to be drafted into the league, but the rest is worrisome. We have a Tennessee transfer slated to start at corner in Daniel Gray and fellow Floridian and three year contributor to start the other side in Rashard Stewart. Our other safety has seen time- Frankie Sutera, but I maybe able to beat him in a foot race. He also has given up big passing plays in the past. We have been quite vulnerable historically to long pass plays. Last season alone Utah, BYU, and USC torched us a few times on long passing plays. We play an aggressive style of defense and many times our CBs are left one on one with more athletic WR. I doubt we do this against Tennessee unless we want to get curb stomped immediately.

:eek:lol:

I can't remember, why did Daniel Gray transfer?

He woke up one day and realized he wasn't SEC caliber...so he threw a dart at a globe and got as far away from that quality as humanly possible.

What I like is that the writer gives us all these reasons why Tennessee is so bad and then predicts his team to win by all of four points. If a Utah State guy thinks they will win by four, then maybe we will win going away.

In all seriousness there are a few of his Florida HS buddies playing at USU. I think when Tennessee didn't work out that's why he transferred to Utah State of all places.

If you come by my tailgate, I will have a beer for you.

Great offer! I would settle for a soda as I'm not much of a drinker. Do you BBQ at your tailgates?

Bring an appetite and a T-shirt with "Madmartigan" emblazed upon it. You will find some true southern hospitality among the Volnation brethren. Just be careful what drinks they try to bestow upon you, you don't want to miss the game.

I've heard the fabled hospitality of SEC schools. Auburn treated us really well when we went. I'm not a big fella it wouldn't take too many drinks to have me missing the game. Not to thread jack, but what is Tennessee's brand of BBQ like? I've had Texas BBQ and found it to my liking.

I too, shall share a drink with you if you're interested :)

Well, I'm from Memphis so it depends on who you ask, but Memphis BBQ is smokey, sweet, and sometimes a little spicey. Typically smoked in a wood smoker for 12-14 hours when you want to do it properly. It can be found both in wet (covered in sauce) and dry (covered in dry rub) varieties, and both are pretty amazing in their own way. Ribs, brisket, and sandwiches are the most common way it's served. You'll like it. Trust me lol.

Majority is tomato based sauce, tennessee whiskey sauce from sticky fingers, any kinda jack Daniels sauce. They're are mustard based sauces that you will find in tennessee as well but majority are tomato

Well, the barbecue my family has always made is closer to the typical "North Carolina" style: we cook a whole hog 12-16 hours and then pick it apart. Sauce is usually vinegar based with a little red pepper for a kick.

As far as the BBQ restaurants around, I'd say Memphis style is probably a bit more common around these parts.

I have dreams about roasting an entire pig, but never done it. That sounds absolutely fantastic. Surely there are no vegetarians attending UT games :)

I cant let you have more post than I do on a UT fan site.

If you have any desire at smoking some BBQ check out BBQ pit boys recipes on Youtube. I started with a pork shoulder/Butt first. MMM Mmm!!!

I'm so there. Tailgaiting, like collared greens, is something us Westerners don't know how to do well.

Well I must warn you that Tennessee BBQ can be dangerous, plate placement is a serious issue.

if you hold it above your head your tongue will jump out of your mouth and beat you to death trying to get to it.

:)

Let me get this straight. The author , Dennis Barker, writes that Tennessee failed to make a bowl game after losing to Georgia State at home. His bio states he is a senior at UT. ......really?

Lol yeah a little wacky.

Hey Cannonvolrun. Don't run across a WoodVegas native too often. My dad grew up there. Just a couple years older than you it looks like. His name is Bobby Higgins. You know him by any chance? lol

I'll be very cautious about plate placement :eek:lol:

Dry rub, IMO, is the only way to go. Sweet (Memphis mist) recipe is a must try. Vinegar baste, cotton mop, long cook time, apple wood smoke,,,hmm,,,going to be a great weekend.
