I would refer to Fox as more of an example, the show with Britt Hume in particular. They do devote some of the program to tell the otherside of some stories that are generally presented with the power is bad; weak is good slant.

I'm not denying "flourishes" but I was talking about the liberal leaning flourish that is seen in much of the mainstream media.

Fox is actually who I had in mind when I wrote the previous.
I see where you would like me to go with your thinking, but I honestly do not believe Fox is any more balanced in its presentation of the events of the day than her generally accepted alter ego CNN.
The analysis end of these outlets daily offering to the public though, clearly differentiates the two nets. And it is in this area where most viewers opinion of the news they hear is formed.
Because of this, I can easily see how the Fox product might suit one's ear better, and therefore bring one to a position where they would believe them more accurate.

EDIT.
My day is almost over here at work. Just wanted to say thanks Bham, for making a slow day at work go faster with a thoroughly enjoyable conversation... :hi:

If you ask me, there's way too much fighting, bickering and namecalling going on between the Republicans and Democrats. Sometimes I think that we forget that we're part of the same country and are only interested in the best outcome for our great nation.

So I offer this video to remind us all what it's really all about....

P.S. You have to watch the video, it makes the song that much better.

Clicky clicky

It takes a little while to load, but it's so worth it.

Was that Ritchie Sambora? :D

I don't know, but if Sambora made you feel the love like that, it must be him.

Can't you just feel the love now?

since the monica incident where the republicans did everything they could to tarnish clinton and the democrats they have been fighting nonstop. after that incident there is no bipartisanship no more. there will never be again, and yes i do blame the republicans alittle more than the democrats on this issue. that was a joke of a scandal that the republicans used to gain power, and it worked. that shows you how much the media controls people. it also shows you the republicans are in real trouble coming into the elections. because the media is not a bush fan.

Perhaps you are missing my point - I'm not claiming that Fox is more accurate. I'm suggesting that they don't have the slant I've termed liberal in our discussion. Fox's slant is more of a minority opinion if you will.

Again, I would suggest that the Brokaw quote captures my thinking. Much of the media sees itself (even if subtly) as the voice of those who don't have a voice (or as much of one) and accordingly err in telling the story from their (the downtrodden in the words of Brokaw) perspective.

Fox doesn't do this as frequently as a say a CNN does. However, Fox too frequently over-emphasizes other "voices".

I too enjoyed the discussion.

YEAH!! Liberties?? We don't need no stinkin' liberties!! Look at how tightening up the civil liberties worked for Germans in 1932. It's the way to go I tell ya.
OWB, ask the families of the three thousand 9-11 victims about their opinion as to whether they would have preferred the NSA gathering more info or less on phone communication patterns before that fateful day.

I don't agree with everthing that Bush has done or not done(specifically the lax immigration policy and not having pushed for more energy independence) but you have to admit since 9-11 he has taken the fight to the enemy and we have had ZERO terrorist attacks on our American soil. This despite opposition at every step from the party of Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy and Al(Internet Inventor) Gore. :disappointed:

Last I checked, the 9-11 families weren't happy with Bush at all.

Since 9-11, he has dropped a few bombs on Afghanistan and put some soldiers there after Bin Laden escaped and then headed straight to Iraq. Sure, there might be some Al quaeda in Iraq now, but that's only because Iraq is now a breeding ground for terrorists of all affiliations.

I also find it funny how the telephone numbers are such a big deal, yet our Northern and Southern borders are still wide open. Who needs phone calls when you can cross over into America and just meet in person?

I'll give Bush some credit for finally getting some initiative about this border thing though. At least he's finally thinking about committing some of the National Guard to try and control it a little. Too bad it took something like a low approval ratings and upcoming mid term elections to get the ball rolling.

As for ZERO attacks on American soil, that's true and I'm grateful for it. However, it's more to do with the patience of Al Queada than the effectiveness of Bush and "War on Terror"... The terrorists have proven that time is not a factor in their attacks, they're more concerned about doing it right than doing it quickly.

Al Quadea is now dispersed thoughout the world, I would hardly call attacking a country that didn't attack us "taking it to them"... :twocents:

I see the line of thinking of a secure America is not without cost. But heres the thing and theres no gettin past it. What is legal and acceptable today may not be next year. What you empower your elected officials with now isn't up for discussion after the next election, so If a individual who interviews well, has the look and the backing of his party.....has the resources and the charisma .......but has a dr jeykell side not yet seen...think where that can go. Think it cant happen? I cite the Katrina storm...look how quickly the whole region collapsed, no infrastructure...nothing...hysteria and crime took over. If our economy collapsed next month...the same thing would be nation wide....no water, but my God it would be awful. Say then a small core of government officials survived and assembled...their decision was to put the nation back in order, in other words get the folks under control....see where this is goin?
