NTSB recommends ban on use of cell phones or texting while driving

Well guess what... Your body on the pavement and the 5 fire trucks and all the police cars and ambulances and all my tax money being used to clean you up is bothering me and the 100,000 other people stuck in traffic because you felt it was your right not to wear a seatbelt

You over simplify the crash, seat belts dont always prevent any of what you mentioned.
Seen my fair share of ejections while wearing seatbelts.

Has nothing to do with being a liberal. It has everything to do with safety. Easily one of the dumber statements ever posted on VN.

I've almost been hit several times by people using their cell for talking/texting. If I hadn't been paying attention, there could have been some bad accidents.

Regardless of the report you speak of, cell phone usage should be made illegal while driving UNLESS a headset is used. Texting should be illegal at any time.

Really? He said you are a busybody who wants to tell people what to do and you basically just said, "nuh uh, we like to tell people what to do."

Have had this

I had to use that last winter. Officer didn't notice my bare legs. I had not been drinking, but had been coming home from the downtown area. Tail lights were out and I didn't know it. Plenty of reason to pull me over. Had me do a field sobriety test. I regularly wear shorts year-round. It was quite amusing to hear the cop tell me I could stop the following his finger. I just got a written warning for my tail lights.

Can you prove that seatbelt laws and cell phone laws change this? The data suggests we end up with more accidents which means more delays in traffic.....

Like I said, we are going in circles here. You claim more accidents, sure there may be more, but how severe are they? We can all deal with fender bender on the side of the road, but I am talking about serious injuries requiring lots of our resources responding, which are more likely to happen if you are not wearing a seatbelt

FARS Encyclopedia

here is the NTSB data showing a 20% drop in death rates since 1994.

So am I an overreaching liberal who wants to control everyone's life because I support limits on alcohol consumption and driving?

then you must have some serious comprehension issues if that's your interpretation of my statement. Not surprising coming from you. This has nothing to do with political ideology.

Regardless of what YOU or HE thinks, you DO NOT have the right to endanger me while on a public highway because of petty carelessness and impatience. If you need to call someone and don't have a headset, you can pull off onto the side of the road. What did you before the mid 1990s? Excuse me, I forgot you probably weren't old enough to be driving 15 years ago

Lower fatalities means less emergency response? Do tell...

You do not have the right to walk near me because you might stumble and fall into me.

Some of these dumbasses think of everything in absolute extremes. If you think this, then it must be because you are a liberal. If you think that, it must be because you are a conservative. Dumb logic, but some of these guys live by it.

Really??? I know you're not this stupid.

No, if you're PD, you don't have a right to walk right next to me because you might stumble and fall into me

Probably the same ones that vote for a candidate just because there is an [R] next to a candidates name. (Goes both ways, not just calling out Republicans)
