NTSB recommends ban on use of cell phones or texting while driving

Next time I am at Six Flags, I will be sure to stand on the roller coaster because I am a free agent, the trained saftey man is not humble enough and by gosh, I refuse to be coerced

If you take someone's argument to a ridiculous extreme in order to prove it wrong, you won't convince anybody but yourself.

Let him take it to that extreme; does not change my feelings. I think he should be allowed to stand up on the roller coaster and kill himself. In fact, world would be a better place with less individuals who want to coerce others into following their will.

Whats extreme about Six Flags? 25 million people pass through its gates every year and by god, they better be humble enough to sit on that roller coaster

I prefer that we don't prohibit it. Not that I'm for or against legislating behavior, I just enjoy slamming on my brakes and scaring the crap out of someone reading a text. I also like to drift into their lane, pull in front of them and then slow 20 miles below the speed limit--almost anything to piss them off to the point they toss down their phone and pay attention. I figure I'm doing everyone a favor.

Choice is the issue

we are going in circles here. You have a choice, to drive a car, ride the bus/subway, get on a motorcycle, or hop on a donkey or sit at home. Each one of them has rules and consequences for breaking those rules. Just because we live in American, doesnt give us the right to do whatever we want.

Next time im on the subway, I will be sure to have my ghetto blaster on max power because nobody can coerce my right to listen to rap music as loud as I want.

What in the world are you talking about?

Look, you need to find comparable examples. In this example you are directly bugging other people. In the case where you don't wear a seat belt you are only RISKING harm to yourself.

Well guess what... Your body on the pavement and the 5 fire trucks and all the police cars and ambulances and all my tax money being used to clean you up is bothering me and the 100,000 other people stuck in traffic because you felt it was your right not to wear a seatbelt

Funny you should mention this the same day a report comes out stating stats about accidents and cell phone use is completely overblown.

However, I'm not surprised. You liberal elites love to try and tell everyone what to do and how to live.

Has nothing to do with being a liberal. It has everything to do with safety. Easily one of the dumber statements ever posted on VN.

I've almost been hit several times by people using their cell for talking/texting. If I hadn't been paying attention, there could have been some bad accidents.

Regardless of the report you speak of, cell phone usage should be made illegal while driving UNLESS a headset is used. Texting should be illegal at any time.

Can you support that seatbelt laws and cell phone laws change this? The data suggests we end up with more accidents which means more delays in traffic.....
